What bird is this?

Does anyone know what bird this is was hunting Swifts with its partner S.France...Sorry re pic, only have 200mm lense!!!

It looks at first like a buzzard, but these are unlikely to be hunting swifts.

How big was it and do you think that it was just trying to defend a nest?

From the width of the tail I would say its a broadwing of some description. So a buzzard of some type would be a good bet.

The buzzard is very common here in SW France, so it's likely to be one.
