what camera with a budget of £1000?

We decided to go with the D7000 but what lens would you recommend as a starter?, For taking photos outside, wildlife, buildings, closeups?

We both don't understand anything about different lens, so if someone would like to explain in a little detail that would be great.

Thanks!

To do all those different things youwill likely need different lenses. The 18-105mm kit lens is a great starting point. For wildlife she will want something like the 70-300, Nikon make a nice one and tamron ave a similar lens tat is a bit cheaper. I reccomend that as a starting kit. If you want to get true closeups you will need a dedicated macro lens, but I would wait and see how she TS nonetheless the kit lens.

Out of those what would be good for buildings? if that makes any sense?

You said the 18-105mm would be good as a starting point, what would that cover exactly?

The 18-105 will be goo for buildings/architecture, also good for landscapes, portraits, still life, urban, and could just about do basic wildlife, for large anaimals where you can get close. The 70-300 is better for wildlife, you effectively zoom in more on the subject so it will be bigger in the frame.

A 35mm f1.8 will be good for portraits and low light.

All good to go?

you can pick up a new canon 600d on ebay for £390 that leaves you £510 for two lenses.

I would go with a sigma 18-50mm F2.8 which you again can get on ebay for £140, this lens lens is f2.8 (quick) and has image stabilizer.

The other £370 i would put towards getting some accessories, but that is up to you, needs etc.
This would be my recommendation, but I'd also add in the nifty fifty 50mm, f1.8 lens

I would personally go for the canon 600d over the d7000 myself, out of a preference for the size, weight and feel of the camera in my hands. The d7000 and 600d both take incredible pics.

Canon Nifty 50 is a dog with fleas compared to Nikon 50 1.8G. Also 600d is pretty basic, and isn't comfortable without a grip, I don't think there is many who would opt for a 600D over D7000 imo.

Comfort is subjective.

I'd still recommend the D7000, but saying something isn't comfortable is mostly subjective, as it's down to how it feels in the hand.
