Hello everyone,
Sorry for the late reply and for resurrecting an old thread. I've just got the number for the local law centre who are sanctioned by the local borough council to offer free legal advice - they're recommended by the CAB and I'm going to try to get as much advice from them as possible over the phone.
I don't much fancy jeopardising my job by seeing the CAB in person, they'll just direct me to the Local Law Centre anyway.
Interestingly enough, I read on a certain web site (when I was looked at hiring a bailiff for this debt) that I can organise a CCJ for £50 - all I need is the debt amount and the full name and address of the person..so I'm wondering if I can organise this to my favour and have the letters sent to him and then see him writhing while court action is taken against him? I can also use the Money Claim government site as well, as it is over £600.
Might just work. It'll get rid of an enormous amount of stress - I'm already starting to lose my hair (although that might just be genetic!). Once I've spoken to the Local Law Centre, I'll then be able to escalate the issue I suppose.
Thanks again for your help and advice everyone!
