on my way BACK, hes stioll just sitting there.
my neigbour who is a birrd expert / animal rescue type of bloke haas juist gone out to work !, so what can i do to rescue the lil fellow before he gets plucked up by a cat.

i mean, stick him in a box, bring it home and... what ?

will probably be dead within a few hours, we had the same result last week. The other birds will relise hes not getting looked after and will start to attack him... with terrible results... :(

exactly, so go pick him up and look after him.

I'm an animal lover, yes i'd rescue a drowning bee from a pool and I can't stand all this "let nature take it's course" crap.

You get run over by a hit and run driver, you get badly hurt, nature dictates you should die from your injuries - do you expect people to let that happen?

Same happened to me a couple of years back, we found a baby bird that had fell off the church roof. took it home and reared it, the bird used to hop around the house and my son fell in love with it and even named it fuzznut. All came to an abrupt end when my dad accidently stood on it and mashed it into the lino :(

You can be taken to a hospital and fixed up. Where are you going to take the bird? Take it home and teach it to fly? Best of luck.

Keep him warm if you can. If you have a low wattage bed-side angle-poise or something point that at him (but don't fry him with it!).

If he's going to perk up this will help.

// EDIT // Obviously, this would depend on the fact that you've brought him home, unless you have a really long extension lead

I once tried incubating an egg using an angle-poise and it ended up hard boiled :(

this was on springwatch the other night, if it's a fledgling don't take it to the bird center as most prolly the mum or dad bird is still about.

You've obviously never reared an animal before then?

You don't need to teach it to fly, they learn themselves.

crisis over...i kept going to check on it then it had just gone... the pile of plob it was sitting above looked kinda erm 'un disturbed' so on that basis i dont 'think' a cat got it.
would have been kinda cool to rear it tbh.
thanks to those guys with SERIOUS answers :) im gonna go looking for another one to rescue lol

that wont help... you wont be able to feed it, as it probably wont allow you, and even if it did, what are you going to do next? it will never stand a chance in the wild without being teached properly by its mother.

Yeah, should stand up for what you believe in deffo.

I guess if you get hit by a car then you shouldn't let nature take it's course.. same goes for a mouse that a cat is toying with..

What does this post actually mean?

Also, I'd let my cat kill and eat a mouse, so long as she did it outside.
