Its a Toshiba Tecra A4 laptop, hardware-wise the keyboard is fine.
The keyboard regularly switches itself onto some crazy mode that re-arranges the functions of a lot of keys. Like the left shift key becomes enter, the system also thinks the right shift key is permanently held down, when it is not. Some of the letters do random things, like open IE. Selecting a single file becomes impossible in explorer because shift is on, so it selects multiple files.
Pressing and holding the shift keys in random arrangements can sometimes bring the system back to normal but i have no idea whats causing this or what sets it off, the laptop usually needs a reboot to recover from it.
