1TB drive, replacement from a faulty one

Works on a new quad system

Plug it into an older AMD 3400 system, and isn't recognized in Vista, or bios.

Help!

No luck.

I think it might just be a rubbish motherboard and bios.

It's a MSI K8MM-V, any ideas?

Also, if I use a SATA2 card, would that help matters?

That board only supports SATA150. Sounds like it's failing to auto negotiate the interface speed with the HDD.

If it's a WD or Seagate drive then you can force the speed with a jumper on the drive, for Hitachi or Samsung you need to use a software tool - put the drive in the quad box and run it from there.
