What can't I do with a mac that a PC can do?

Hasn't anyone said right click? :p

No because they can do that.

If you like using OneNote, there's no good alternative on the mac. Or microsoft office in general is better on a pc.

I've dropped my Macbook Pro once, from about desk height. Not a scratch on it thanks to it's toughen aluminium exterior. Dropped my hp tablet pc from the same height and the shoddy plastic casing dented. This is on a wooden floor mind you.

Omnigraffle isn't a bad competitor to Visio, although I still use Visio in a Win VM for creating - I'll often use Omnigraffle to edit though.

Since getting broadband in sept 2004 PC's and especially gaming has destroyed my life. I have got fat, hardly go out, all my friends have either moved, married, kids etc etc... I am the only one left living at my parents in the same dead end town.

Admittedly the last 12 months I have started to change my life, I don't have time for games and consoles anymore. I don't want the clutter, I want a life...

The mac still gives me support and microsoft office. Will cut down on clutter and will last me up to 10 years.

I play on ps3 maybe twice a year at most, not even for 30 mins each time. It's just sitting there gathering dust.

Now having sold all this stuff I am free. I can have a real life again!

Maybe theres something compulsive in my personality I dunno, I am just thankfull I never played WoW lol.

You better not come back on here telling others how buying a Mac saved your life. Got you out of a rut, found you a girlfriend, got you a higher paying job, etc :D

My single biggest issue with OSX is that support for Microsoft's media products is poor.

The only reason I seem to have Windows running now is for our corporate Instant Messaging/Voice & Video Collaboration suite.

That and Outlook, which I guess is a big part of the above.

I'm thinking of selling my ps3, pc and satalite receiver to fund the purchase of an imac

much as Macs look pretty, why would you want to go to all that???? IMO they ain`t worth doing that for

"look pretty"

That there tells me you don't know what your on about.

15 Years of experience of using both tells me they are worth it, wonder who is right hmmm?

[Not being arrogant or whatever...]

It usually boils down to if they can afford it or if they can be bothered to change or only ever use windows specific apps.

I run windows specific apps like CAD and MATLAB and even then i use Bootcamp/VWMare Fusion and when I can revert back to working in OS X.

You've been using both simultaneously since you were 5? Or is your profile incorrect?

Yup.

Got a Performa 630 for my 5th Birthday.

Used System 6 up to OS 10.6.2.
Used Win NT 3.5 (I think) up to W7.

But if you want to be more modern and up to date, i've used Windows XP - Vista - 7 and every OS X there has been so far. :)

Why don't you simply sell all your gaming gear, keep the PC minus the graphics card, and buy a low end card? It's the cheaper way to do it.

Good luck :)

PCs are better than Macs, because PCs have a recycle bin, so you can use that space again. Macs have trash so it's gone forever

There's no version of MS Project for the Mac yet either, so another job for VMFusion...

Hopefully Office 2010 will be good though as Excel and Word for Mac aren't like their PC counterparts (god knows why).

Anyone play EVE Online on their Mac? I am seriously considering moving from a PC and since the only PC game I play is EVE and that's available for Mac it wouldn't be an issue.

Are they capable of running 2 clients with no trouble?

All the time. Some people are reporting a lot of problems with the Mac Eve client but I find it very stable and it works well. I've not tried running two clients at a time though.
