Hi All,

Thought it would be interesting to have a thread detailing what everyone drives and why they chose it? Do you regret it and what do you want net? I'll go first:

Current Car: Clio 182
Why: Because it represented the best compromise of performance and price when I was looking. I looked at other hot hatches (Fabia vRS mainly) and even thought about a 3 year old BMW/Audi but in the end I went for the Clio. Don't regret it one bit as I've had 3 great years out of the car it's still going strong. Been very reliable and so much fun to drive.

Next Car: The problem here is that I got so much performance for so little money that matching it with another newish car that I would actually consider an upgrade is going to be quite difficult and expensive! Been thinking along the lines of a fast BMW or Audi but tricky when they cost so much more than the 11K I paid for my new Clio and my current car is still doing fine!

Who's next? :)

Current car: 1600cc mk1 Mx-5
Why: Because ive had it for ages and its not worth selling, other than that and the fact i can drift it its crap.

Next car: Alfa 147
Why: it will keep my gf happy, i quite like them and they are decent specced for the monies plus i will keep the mx5 for driving like a spac in.

Current car: Corsa C
Why: My mum bought it and it is the only car i am insured to drive. Fine to get you from A to B and cant really complain because i only pay for the petrol i use.

Next car: 205 gti
Why: Always wanted one of these and thought i would have to wait longer until insurance became affordable but for some strange reason it is the same to insure as a mondeo so should have one in the next couple of months.

Current car: Ford Fiesta 1.25l Zetec

Why: Because my dad was kind enough to give it to me to replace a Mazda 323F 1.8l i had. The 323 was nice but had done just over 180k miles when i sold it and would probably have started falling apart soon after.

The Fiesta is waaaaaay more economical, cheaper to insure and much nicer to park. :)

Next car: Anything quick - it's the one thing i miss the Mazda for. The Fiesta can't really overtake at a moments notice - it's always plan and execute! :D

Current car: VW Golf 1.6 16v SE (as sig)

Why: Because I rushed into buying a 2nd car without consulting the forum first. However, I am more than happy with my purchase despite lots of negative points highlighted on the forum. I do sometimes wish that I spent my money elsewhere though! It has all the stuff I need on it and hasn't cost me too much to run over the past 1 year, 9 months of ownership!

Next car in May '09: Lotus Elise 111S/R, VX220 2.2, 330Ci convertible, Z4 or a DC5. Something around £11k-14k, fast, insurable and good looking! Hopefully this moron tax band will push the nicer cars into my budget when I turn 21 so I get more for my moneys. :)

Current Car: Nothing
Why: Pranged my previous car in Jan of this year and it just didn't feel right keeping it once it was fixed.

Next Car: Unsure yet
Why: For starters I hate not having a car and having to rely on public transport. I have a list of cars I need to look at properly and take on test drives. It will be hopefully be something that's a great deal of fun to drive but also has some practicality about it as I will need boot space etc. I'll be getting the next one in Jan though, that's for sure.

Skoda Octavia vRS: Because my Scottish roots make me too mean to buy a VW

EDIT- Oh, we're doing next cars too. umm... in true OCUK tradition I'd have to say... a Porsche Cayman S or a Bugatti Veyron

Current car: Mk1 MR2.
It's a pile of fun, cool and eighties, and easy to fix, not least because we have a garage of spares. Not that very much goes wrong. I don't like modern cars, and this one turned up on my doorstep one day :)

Next car:
A nicer Mk1 MR2, preferably orange. Or if I win the lottery, a Mosler MT900.

Was looking for something comfortable and good to drive. Wasn't fussed about economy or running costs. Got this for £5k about 18 months ago and been very happy with it. Maybe should have gone for a Sport if I looked around more but was sold on the test drive so made a quick decison.

Next Car: Probably a BMW 330i Sport or equivalent Merc.

Current Car:
Ford Fiesta Zetec S TDCi, why? because at the time i bought id have to do a 65mile round trip to work and back and having a porsche at the time, it made sence to get something economical, its fast(ish), cheap ins, cheap tax (£35 a year!) and does a good 50mpg!.

Next Car:
Looking after xmas is out of the way, Rx8, Golf GTI, R32, BMW Z4, Nissan 350Z.
Why because sometimes the diesels a little bit boring!!!

Current car: Ford Mondeo ST24
Why: I love the look of them, and at the time (about 5-6 years ago) it wasn't much more to insure than my 1.8 Escort Si.

Next car: Some company car, some variation of Vauxhall, bikes will take my spare cash :D

Scort.

Current car: 2005 Lexus GS430
After the unreliable mess that was the 2003 Audi A8 4.2 Quattro I had, I wanted something that was going to be faultless. The Lexus has been utterly solid all the time I've had it and the dealer support is second to none. I went for the 4.3 because I wanted a decent turn of speed and an unstressed engine. It's confortable, fast and reliable. What more could I ask for from a business tool?

Next car: Possibly a Lexus LS460, a GS460 or maybe an IS-F. It all depends on what the used prices do (I only buy 1-2 year old cars). I do have a crazy idea about buying an old E38 7-Series though and leaving a wedge of cash in the bank to fix problems.

Current car: Citroen Xsara VTS

Bought it because for the money I don't think it is possible to get anything that comes close to the performance, handling, spec and age. Fantastic car to drive but it looks pretty bland and it rattly.

Next car: Honda S2000 or Audi TT Coupe 225

Look a lot better, desirable, faster and better in terms of build quality.

Current car: 1.8L Astra Coupe
Why: Really liked the shape of it. For the deal I got and all other things about the car (milage, specs, PX). It seemed like an obvious choice to make...

Next car: Depends on money but Accord (new shape) or RX8
Why: Not sure why...Just love the same of the Accord also seems like a great all round car too...RX8 becuase its fast, stunning and pretty much perfect for me tbh...Long time before I get that though...

Current car: Mk2 Skoda Octavia vRS
Why: I had a mk1 and it was reliable, speedy and practical, the mk2 model is all that and feels nicer

Next Car: bmw 325 touring
why: I want a 6 cylinder petrol and the new range of BMW engines seems streets ahead of the current VW crop in the way of emissions/tax/fuel

Why? : I knew I wanted something different to my previous Golf, so I wasn't in the market for hatchbacks. I wanted something that I would enjoy driving but that could also be used for motorway slogs when needed. At my age (20) it's hard to insure the quicker jap cars such as 200SX's and MR2 turbos that I could get for my budget of £4k so I went to look at this NASP MR2 and fell in love with it. The previous owner had used it as a weekend toy and it had FDSH and was immaculate, so I bought it and don't regret it!

Next: Who knows, supercharged V6 conversion for the MR2? Or maybe an Audi TT-S. It'll go one of two ways - cheaper car with lots of power or more expensive car with less power...

Current car: 1999 Fiesta Zetec (1.25)

Why: Cheap as chips to insure (first car), seriously nippy, incredibly reliable

Next: BMW E42 Coupe, BMW Z4 or an Alfa Brera S (if they haven't sold their 500 by that time)

Current Car: Octavia vRS MkI
Why: I wanted something new'ish after so much trouble with the 306, I also wanted pretty nippy. The Octy seemed the best compromise for the price and also pretty large.

Next Car: Z4 3.0 Coupe/Cab or 350Z or 630
Why: I want something more fun/fast, RWD and less practical! GooseTax seems to be helping this get closer/cheaper.
