What card for my pennys.

Yeah, I would wait for the new cards even if that means minimal price reductions, you can only benefit. The 970 > 980 in terms of price to performance ratio as mentioned. I would also recommend that and if you're after a quiet card with reasonable temperatures and a decent out-of-the-box overclock then I have heard good of MSI. I can't speak n behalf of others however.

The Nvidia GTX970 G1

I have installed it and it doesn't even break a sweat playing World of Tanks at maximum settings.

I did have a R9 290X but was having problems with it and for that reason I would like to thank Passey89, Avenged7Fold & Megatron for helping me try to resolve my problems with this card.

I think that because I had so little help from Sapphire it's what tipped my thoughts to Nvidia. I am really happy with the GTX970.
