i've been through a fair few cases in my time including but not limited to Chieftec Dragon, Globalwin, bunch of Lian Li's, Corsairs, Mountainmods etc. My current rigs have been overhauled and am using a Jonsbo UMX4 and a Lian Li 011D Mini. Should money be no object including individual parts to build it in, i would switch to a Caselabs SMA8, but money being of concern, i am happy with what i have at the moment.

There's always new and exciting cases being released so i have yet to find a firm favourite.

In terms of part 2, only cases i am aware of and actually used are Mountainmods, Lian Li and Caselabs... I'm sure there are plenty others but since i have not used any (none of those listed) in a build, i can't say which

I've build in a discontinued fractal node. Imo the best looking HTPC case money could buy.

What makes the phanteks so much better? Placement?

The Phanteks P500A and P600S are more easily dismantled down to the minimum structure making fitting rads etc easier. Additionally because both are designed to permit a second ITX board in the roof so if you're not going to do that you have loads of space above the motherboard for rads and fans. The Phanteks machines are designed for airflow while still being good looking.

I have a Meshify C and the mesh front being contoured and plastic is much less easy to clean than the metal smooth front of a P300A, P400A, P500A.

I also still have a Define S but its solid front killed airflow and I had to completely replace the panel with a handmade mes front.

There's no point building watercooling in an airflow-constrained case. Yes there are other high airflow cases but for me, the Phanteks cases do it better.

It's my favourite case to build in so far, with everything just done better than all my previous ones, and most of the cases in which I've built for other people.

I still find a few issues here and there though, so would happily try out something else.
I have been considering the 719, but as above I'd also love a great big Caselabs one just so I could choose exactly where I want everything, with bags of extra space for any other crazy ideas I want to implement later.

make fractal's build quality and quality control has gone downhill a bit in recent years. I went from a R5 to a meshify S2 and the R5 was a tank, great quality but the S2, took me by surprise - issues it has:

rattling top airflow mesh grill

reset button almost too small to press for normal human fingers

power on button that's very hard to push in (requires a lot of force)

front panel filter that is almost impossible to remove and it's possible to tear off the front panel cables while doing it

the first meshify s2 I received had a massive quality control flaw on top of the above issues (the two layers of the side panel glass were not airtight and it allowed a build up of moisture bubbles inside the panel so the side panel looked like PC was sweating or something


So now I've ditched Fractal and switching to Lian Li

Had the old phantek evolv, then they brought out the evolv x I'm more than happy with it, also had a few mountain mods, lian li and coolermaster been into computers before my 29year old daughter was born.

Would love to build into the In Win S frame and was trying to buy one for a while, but pretty rare. The Singularity V 3.0 spectre case looks neat too. Pretty happy otherwise with In Win Tou and Shift X which are primary builds, pretty unique.
