What class are you?

I would say that i am middle class from an upper middle class family, assuming we are reserving the upper class for people with titles.

While money has never come into my upbringing other than a topic of conversation, my parents do both work, and neither are titled.

Can't wait until the recession renders everyone unemployed,... does everyone become scum then or is it only then that it becomes just circumstances beyond your control and ability?

it's amusing to see the posts about being extravagant with cash equalling a higher class. The real middle and upper classes wouldn't dream of frittering money away on expensive cars and designer clothing, instead saving or investing it.

Generally fox has got it right. The middle classes are professionals - doctors, barristers, in days gone by Bank Managers (not now though since exams went out of the window) etc. Being a middle manager in a call center does not make you middle class LOL. Most people are working class, it's just the ridiculously extravagant job titles that lead people into believing they area class above.

I am training to be a bank manager (of sorts) and I have to complete professional exams.

Fair enough. I left financial services 10 years ago and back then there was a move away from doing your CIB exams.

I was technically a bank manager of a small village branch with only my stage 1 passed and I most certainly wasn't middle class!

They have moved to applied diplomas in specailsed fields, you can carry these on to degree level if you wish.

I am training to be a commercial manager and I would say that after 1 or 2 promotions that it would be a middle class job.
