I don't have a class, just a figment of everyone imagination that has a normal job, normal pay, normal payments with a few cool expensive things.

I suggest a review of the categories:

1. General bludger and dosser, fencing car radios and claiming dole at the expense of classes 2,3,4.

2. Proud to be "working class" and haven't noticed the class system is a thing of the past. Probably have a flag related to a football team in the driver's cabin of my van and complain a lot about posh people without noticing that half my class mates from school have dragged themselves out of the mire. Keeping class 1 in trackies and tabs.

3. Just doing my job, paying my rent / mortgage, keeping class 1 in trackies and tabs and telling class 2 where to drive their van.

4. Keeping class 3 busy and actually doing my work, not paying them too much so that I can make plenty of money to buy shiny things whilst keeping class 1 in trackies and tabs and fueling class 2s vans.

now that is funny as f"£k.

Odd definitions. As you want people to relate their class based on your definitions, perhaps you could explain as to how you came up with them?

I'm probably lower middle class.

Edit: Intriguing that you place someone in a council house as working class. To an extent I don't think those old class definitions exist today, since we've moved to a service economy there's hardly any true 'working class' people left around now. It's sort of all down to cultural definitions isn't it? I'd say someone who loves football, watches Sky TV all day and has a few tattoes is working class - not because of economic circumstance or whether they're renting or their job but because of their culture or whatever. Though I suppose class culture is different to the class we're talking about here? I don't know... :P

Edit2: I'd also say that upper class is belonging to people with titles and things like that... People over £100k a year etc. etc. i'd generally just call upper middle class.

I also said that I posted it in GD, GD is & will always be the place for Light hearted banter

It's also the place on OCUK where you get the most about of disagreements and arguments.

Remember that you will see you own 'class' and the divisions within it far more clearly than anyone else. As well as that, you're far more likely to view other classes stereotypically and potentially insultingly.

Very, very dodgy topic which can so often go wrong, even if addressed lightheartedly.

But then there are stable Gentlemen such as yourself to keep us on an even keel.
I do agree though & think maybe it is not quite as funny a topic as I first found it.

I have always considered myself middle class, my parents were both teachers. Now I'm an "educated professional" so would on that basis consider myself middle class, I'm in the process of buying a house, which is neither on a private estate or a council estate.. it's just on a road. I am only 24 though.

My partner is from Birmingham so thinks I am a member of the bourgeoisie because I sound educated. However, I am probably working class although my family were all professionals, lecturers, teachers etc.

3. Upper class = 100k job/career/business more than 1 home, 50k motor.

Lets not waste time & effort on such a Lovely day debating the ins & outs of my definitions, If you feel you don't fall into any category just Hit the Back button.

I know you don't want a debate on the ins and outs of your definitions but I think this is pretty fundamental - it is unlikely anyone is Upper Class on this forum. Class is not defined by wealth, upper class is reserved for titled landowners, aristocracy and Royalty only. You don't become upper class by buying two semi's, ordering an M6 and running a plumbing company.

The best we should have on this forum will be upper middle class - they are those which you've marked as upper :)

Why would you waste precious moments of your life posting something that is not at all relevant because it was covered in the O.P.
