Regardless of how much you insulate the chimney breast the heat will still vent out the front of the fire place though, so any TV mounted above the fire is going to get toasty from the rising heat.

I would only consider it if the fire was one of those pseudo fires with pretty effects and a fan heater. A real fire is going to radiate immense heat :eek:
