What computer upgrade has made you go WOW?

Windows 95 2.1 to 2000SP2, despite being slightly slower (I actualy ran a duel boot and had 95 for my games) and despite looking the same you could tell something was very different. The stability was so much better, and finally there wasn't a DOS kernel hiding under everything. It was the moment MS OSes came of age.

I'm tempted to say broadband. But I really did say 'wow!' when I first set up my Triplehead with 3 cheap LCD screens. It is the best PC-related money I have ever spent, without a doubt.

Those who are less interested in flight or driving sims might be less impressed. :-)

Dial up to broadband - I remember when Sirrel Squirrel came round to mine to see it and I showed him how I could download a new car for Midtown Madness 2 in a few minutes! - He was like "Mum, we ARE getting this" :D

Dual monitors, also going from a very old 19" CRT to my first TFT.

I remember buying my first decent mouse, the Logitech MX700 - which I'm still using, couldn't believe how comfy it was/is.

When I upgraded the RAM in my mac from 1gb to 9gb, the speed it processes photos is just awesome :D

Getting 512k broadband from 56k, made SoF2 playable. I remember my mate getting it first and I was mazed how fast webites loaded and omg you could watch video online!!!!!! zomg

Going from Tape to 5 1/4 Disk on the Commodore
Floppy disk to my first 360mb Hard Disk
MsDos & DrDOS to Windows NT. Not having a seperate boot sequence to be able to play games!
Various graphics upgrades... probably the biggest WOW was going up to a 8800 and loading a really graphics intensive game.
17" Crt to 24" Lcd
And yeah Broadband.

Going from 56k dialup internet to broadband. Modem upgrades before that were all a bit meh, 14.4k to 28.8k, its just more of the same, only a little bit faster. 56k to 1mb/ps though was a BIG difference.

when i went from a skt 754 AMD Sempron 2800+ (1.6GHz!) to a Q6600. simply incredible difference.

going from my 32mb Radeon (7200?) ---> x800Pro My jaw literally dropped when I fired up Doom 3 and Far Cry.

Also moving from 17" 4:3 CRT to 22" 16:10 LCD Definitely felt like money well spent.

and from a piece of rubbish bought from a well known large pc chain, to a custom build with all top spec gear inside it and a good air cooled case
