What computer upgrade has made you go WOW?

Dial up > Broadband.

:)

The first time walking through parts of Warcraft, I was like "Woah I feel so lost" if that counts.

Biggest wow for me was probably my 24 inch dell. I used to buy all the latest tech so there wasnt much jump in performance, im going the long lasting value route now.. older and wiser :P

GeForce 4 32mb > ATI 1800XT
The first 64bit chip i got (AMD 3200+ Venice)
512mb > 2gb ram
First widescreen monitor

Haven't upgraded in 2 years so hopfull will get the wow factor again when i decide i want to upgrade.

Going from a spectrum to an amiga 500
Upgrading to my first 3d accelerator card - Videologic Apocolypse 5d (terrible card :p) - and seeing high res 3d visuals for the first time (on Star Wars Shadows of the Empire)

The first time walking through parts of Warcraft, I was like "Woah I feel so lost" if that counts.

When I first played WoW I was amazed by the sheer size of it, all the mobs and NPCs. Now when I go on it just doesn't feel the same. Get that quest, kill them, hand it in. Get the next, kill the next, hand it in. If only I could forget :o

56k to broadband - never has porn been so quick. Nothing was more disappointing than fapping to a picture only to find it wouldn't load the bottom half and I had to click the back button or reload button.

:D

I jest of course

The first one I ever did. I dread to think how much money I 'wasted' in search of that wow factor since then.

In 1997 I plugged a Diamond Stealth 3400 graphics card in to my rented Olivetti Pentium, which until then had sported 1mb of onboard GFX power and marveled at the magnificence. I was able to turn up the graphics detail in Grand Prix 2, and even displaying downloaded 'images' from the internet was so much faster.

Upgrading to broadband also baked my noodle.

the biggest wow i ever had on a PC was a 3DFX voodoo. those who were around then will know what i'm talking about. those that werent, will probably never understand just how big a leap forward it was

GF2 MX200 -> GF4 Ti4200

Happy days - firing up IL2 Sturmovik and hurtling across the landscape, just admiring the view :)

when 3dfx voodoo 1 (Diamond Monster 3d) cards came out and using it to play Descent 2 and Monster Truck Madness :P
