What cool technology are we missing out on

Yes, I came in here to say something toilet-related.

From my last trip to Japan, I'd say we're definitely missing out on talking, heated, bum-washing toilets!

Also trains that run on time, and fast-food that isn't made from offal and swimming in grease (South Korea's predilection for fried pigs feet onna stick notwithstanding).

I was also a huge fan of beer in vending machines in train stations, hotels, high streets, shopping centres, etc. Although I think that could be rather dangerous over here.

Germany has packstations. We need them here. Basically, it's your own locker that you can use to send and receive parcels and you have your own P.O. box address for itexcept it'll be something like "packstation 155" followed by the zip code. Then you don't have to wait in the house all day for a courier delivery or chance missing it then having the hassle to collect it from a depot 1 hour's drive away. Just collect it from your packstation after work.

You can buy a metal box with a lock on secificaly designe dfor this and stick it outside your front door assuming you have space.

Completely different idea. Basically, regardless of your living conditions, on your way back from work, you pop into something like this to pick up your parcels. Any time, at your convenience.

Well yes, but I was just saying most people can do it and far cheaper than such a service.

Isn't it just affectively a automated po box. You can get parcels delivered to a po box, it's just expensive. Nice idea though, can all delivery companies use it or just DHL?

Edit - only works for DHL/deutsch post.
But also free

We have these things now. I forgot the company name that does them, but there are a few dotted around. Not widespread atm but sure it'll get bigger.
