Im stuck at choosing what type of CPU/Mobo to get?

Intel dual core or quad or extreme. or even AMD. (but i aint got a clus on them)

I've seen various intel chips, but the price is such factor that £200 for a chip is not justifiable.

The ones i was looking at was QX9650

or some quad/dual at 1600/1333 mhz

Still on the LGA775 board

I currently have the q6700 @ 2.66Ghz this does me fine for gaming Etc, this is for another build im looking to do for a mid buget (£400) ish

i3 is dual-core with hyper-threading right? how do they compare performance wise with actual quad-cores, like the i5 750 for example? heard i3 is brilliant overclocker as well. :)

what you call the actual quad cores......ie i5 750 and ofcourse the i7(s) , the i3 lag behind in More multi threaded applications (how ever they can perform almost equal to the q9xxx quad cores in almost all multithreaded applications)

like i said , i3 is great for mainstream users, so its a nice replacement for the core 2 duo(s)

Thanks imnow also looking at AMD as their performance/price ratio is more effiect than intel, and for gaming AMD is good?

Pointless going with a 1156 build especially if you have futureproofing in mind. The socket will be dead by the end of the year and replaced with Sandybridge and it's new socket.
