What design criteria do toaster designers use?

I want one of these tbh!

Every RAF base i've been to has them and they are well good.

We have a DeLonghi Icona, one of the pricier 'normal' kind of toasters and I must say it's all style and no substance. Around the top the design creates a blatent trap (unintentional) for crumbs which is a pain to clean out and the toast comes out uneven. Still, it looks nice!

What design criteria do bread designers use? The Hovis in this house doesn't even fit in most toasters without it sticking out the top How do they even get away with selling this? It would be like selling a keyboard with the space bar and vowels in the wrong places so when I put my keyboard in the toaster those buttons come out raw :( :( :(

I bought a 4 slice toaster and just put in 2 slices sideways. Works a treat but I do feel I shouldn't have had to do so.

I feel the OP's pain. I have a Tesco 4-slicer and any bread I use pokes out the top, and also doesn't fit properly if you put it in sideways.

We use Tesco bread as well, so they can't even buy in toasters to fit their own bread properly.
