what did i see

this morning i saw something that appeared to enter our atmosphere and then disappear, it looked like a cross between a shooting star and an aeroplane, except it was daylight (6am) and it completely disappeared (got fainter and fainter in about 5 seconds) before i had time to take a picture of it (camera was behing my seat) (i was in my car).

Im perplexed and can only think of some kind of tiny asteriod getting burnt up or something ?

edit: As mentioned, it was probably just a meteor, even at day time and yes, disappear is what they essentially would look like they are doing.
