What did you learn to drive in?

Just had my first lesson today in a 1.8 turbo diesel focus, dunno if its good to drive as i have nothing to compare it to but it seemed to be quite nippy.

Tiny red Ford Ka, which didn't seem too bad to drive around town, 1.3 I think. Although when doing 60 it felt like you were doing 80 haha.

Passed in easter and didn't drive until end of august, when i was working between uni and was given a company van with no back or side windows for 2 weeks and had to drive all around cumbria every day. Was certainly an experience driving that thing, considering it was the first time I had driven since passing my test, first time by myself, first time on the motorway, first time driving a van, first time reverse bay parking, trying to locate places i'd never been to in my life...all on the same day  :D

I used to drive my mum and dads Land Rovers and Range Rovers around fields before I was supposed to be driving. My instructors car was a purple diesel Corsa (yes I know the colour and not the engine size!!!). My own car was a W reg Mini, which I practised in, and also my parents 4x4 Sierra Estate - again on fields, as this was the car they had at the time I was learning.

I was never insured on my parents cars though (hence driving them on private land!) - after I passed my test they got a Jaguar and then a Mk1 MR2 which they had on an over 25s policy :(The first car they insured me on was Dads Shogun, and that was just so I could pick them up from the pub!! Made a change from the minis I was driving at the time but I adapted to it very easily. I think its important to drive a variety of cars in your early years of driving, well I think it heped me anyway as I now feel fairly confident driving any car. (Still can't park the MR2 though but thats cos I'm female ;))
