What did you upgrade from and are you pleased with it

GTX 1070 to RTX 3070 ==> yuuuuge increases in IQ and FPS

I've also just put in a RX 6800 XT, which is a bout a 30% increase in FPS from the 3070.

Wow 30% is quite an increase, do you think a 3080 would be more or less on par with the 6800xt? (Excluding RT features being on)

2080ti to 3090. Can now use 120hz mode on my tv. Couldn't if I didn't. Therefore it's upto a 100% improvement in gsync for me and therefore I don't think I can put a price on that as I was buying for HDMI 2.1 not for extra performance.

GTX 1080Ti to RTX 3090FE

Cheekily had a RTX 3080, someone offered well over £1k so my 3090FE cost £825. Sold the 1080Ti and waterblock (think to yourself :p) so reduced price of the 3090FE upgrade to £500. Though I suppose EK block has added £300 back on :p

For that seen double the uplift in performance + over the 1080Ti. Works perfect paired with the LG OLED, 120hz, G-Sync etc.

I went 980Ti (sold recently for over £200) to an MSI Trio 3080. Yes I am happy with the performance jump, but most of all happy to see the end of Turing and a product that actually offered up an acceptable price/perf upgrade.

1080ti to 3080FE. The new card is around 80% better performance for less than I paid for the 1080ti on release, so that's a positive. However, I decided not to sell the 1080ti and gifted it to someone instead. I'm totally disgusted with the state of the PC hardware market now, so many shady tactics even from outlets who should be much more professional. I bought a 5800x recently but it's going back for a refund.

So yes, happy with the upgrade but it's bittersweet as I suspect it'll be my last transaction in what has become a total con game.

Same feeling here sadly my new build for me took ages to sort the parts out and the retailer scalping was just disgusting at every stage. Happy it's over with for now but if this same headache comes up in the future, when it comes to updating again I will be thinking twice about doing it, if I can live with what I have.

This time round I had to update as needed a new system for my work, next time who knows, this whole update has been my worst experience ever in the last 35 years of computing. To the point I feel I have fallen out of love with computing and just doing it because I need to and the expense for parts now is way over the top and the waiting game for stocks to appear that can take months now.

1080ti FE to 3080 - Very pleased with gaming performance now on 4k and using more frames up to 120hz. Some of the shooters I play are 120fps+. Paid a bit over the odds but winter & lockdown - glad I did.

I found the biggest jump from a regular 980 for my main screen and a GTX 560Ti for the second one to a 2080Ti for the main screen and the 980 for the second. Lately, I upgraded to a 3090 plus a 3070. I noticed the amount of VRAM in the 3090, but it was a smaller jump :). If we go back to the stone age, I found the biggest jump upgrading from an ELSA GLoria XXL to a Geforce 256 . The ELSA was the most massive GPU I have ever had in terms of RAW size, it came with a handle and all... here she is:

1080ti to 3090FE. Went for 3090 because it's the only decent card available, and it has some degree of future proofing. It's definitely not good value compared to the 3080, but the 3080 is too hard to get hold of and in any case can't be found near RRP.

I Upgraded mainly for VR - the 1080ti is fine for gaming at 1440p, which is the monitor size I have and I don't feel any need to upgrade - but for VR it's a massive improvement.

Sold 2080ti and bought a 3090, the games that im playing have been nothing but trouble. The 3090`s have a known issue with X4 foundations and it takes you to the page every time it crashes to let you know Nvidia and Egosoft are aware and looking into it for the last 2 months.
Black ops cold war cant play more than 1 domination match and it crashes with an error they seemingly cant fix and blame nvidia.

BFV/World of Warcraft/Warzone all play fine with no issues (once they fixed the flickering texture bug in shadowlands).
Nvidia drivers of late have been poor at best and cause stuttering amongst other things and im having to use an older driver.

Im now awaiting a Sapphire 6900xt to see if its any better for the titles im playing, plus im at 1080p high frame rates for 240hz screen.

Your post is v similar to what I am going to post. Went from a 1080 to a 3090 only because 3080s are so hard to get and upgraded due to the demands of VR.

Went from Power color Red Devil 5700XT to Sapphire Nitro +OC 6800XT. Happy.. Yes. Card is a beast. Can now game on LG CX Oled @ 4K 120hz. It's so fast in games it makes me laugh out loud to myself sometimes. Had to pay over the odds for it here on ocuk which wasn't nice but I'm glad I'm out of the vga hunting game now. Might sell the red devil on the bay of here to make a bit of money back but tempted to put it in my second pc. Overall pleased.
