They are a way for ISP or whoever to track what websites you are visiting.
Rather a privacy based service than an ISP. I’m not entirely sure what your point is.So much better to let a third party do so
Yes i get the tin foil hat brigade do it for reasons, what web sites you routinely accessing that you'd prefer your isp or the authorities didn't know aboutRather a privacy based service than an ISP. I’m not entirely sure what your point is.
There is nothing tin foil hat about it whatsoever.Yes i get the tin foil hat brigade do it for reasons, what web sites you routinely accessing that you'd prefer your isp or the authorities didn't know about
Same can be done with CloudFlare's DNS. - https://1.1.1.1/family/
1.1.1.2 for 'No Malware', and 1.1.1.3 for 'No Malware or Adult Content'
Cloudflare the quickest too - https://www.dnsperf.com/#!dns-resolvers
OPNSense with Adguard Home and unbound but it gives the same effect as yours. I honestly see no reason to use an external DNS service in this day and age.pi-hole using unbound
Pretty much how most homes will be setup.Router points to Cloudflare and devices point at router which caches the responses so generally quicker than going external for every device.
Yes and where available, it’s the routers DNS which is updated to Quad 9, Cloudflare, Google etc. DHCP will still hand out the routers IP as the clients DNS server which in turn does the lookup on what you configure.Surely most homes which have plug-n-played with their ISP provided router will be pointing to the ISP DNS?
