Abit about myself

I am 19 years old and live in Devon

I have just finished college, which I was studying Media studies and Travel and Tourism, bother together they are worth 3 A Levels.

I have 2 part time jobs, 1 is at a holiday park working in Burger King, quite enjoy it as it can be a laugh and it is rather easy.

My other job is working at a primary school looking after the kids at the After School Club. I enjoy this job.

My interests are Photography, Cars (cars that are modified in a smart way) and cleaning cars.

one option is to go a college near me and do a foundation degree in public services. they are asking for 160 ucas points, I dont even know if I will get that many, I have the money to do the course, its just the points.

I really dont know what to do

I hope you lot can give me some good advice

Thanks

So any advice will be most helpful

Hopefully you'll get the UCAS points from the courses you took. Even if you do miss the points, there may be a chance you can get in if you get talking with the college or people in the know.

Just do some research with people that know for sure what to do in your situation.

What qualifications are you getting that you can be sure are worth 3 A-levels? Surely if they were equivalent you wouldn't be wondering if you will have enough UCAS points to get into University (especially since it's a foundation degree you're concerned about...). Still it's ten years since I went through UCAS so I'm sure things have changed...

To be honest you need to make your own mind up about these things. But if you're not sure, then staying in education is probably a good thing. It's easier to do while you're young than (say) when you hit 25 and decide you want a career change.

edit: I don't think I've ever seen anyone describe "cleaning cars" as one of their interests before...

Get a low level job in something you enjoy, then progress your way to the top.

That's what I'm doing.

I was in a similar situation to yours when I was 19. I had a few a-level / gcse's under my belt afte moving here at 17 from the US.

I decided the uni route wasn't for me, quit my part time job at an aquarium and got a job in IT on a helpdesk. I've since moved on from that and I'm now a junior SQL / .NET developer, age 21, and absolutely love my job.

It's all about finding the right career path.

You are 19 & in Devon.
Go get a tan be a beach bum & learn to surf well then let the smashing commence.

O Yer another thing, Ignore anybody that says different. ;)

Start a car washing business that charges 7grand for each one. (was in the motors section)

Or more seriously, do those two courses add up to the equivilent of 3 a levels, or were you meant to do a third course as well/ have dropped out of that?

If i were you I would look at a uni further away were you can get in with out the foundation course. People don't have to pay for uni up front with student finance.

Plus if you wanted to keep the education route going/ think you might change your mind in the future I would do uni while your young as when you get older universitys will be a lot more expensive as the government is looking to pull out funding, which will lead to 8 grand tuition without any funding. (just something my placement tutor was tellign me on his last visit)

Good luck!

Enter Britains got X-Factor Idols, fart Wagner's Ride Of The Valkyries whilst giving a toy poodle a pedicure, balancing a Prince Charles & Diana Spencer royal wedding commemorative plate on your head and dancing the macarena.

The world then my friend will be a mollusc of your choice.

Trust me I'm Jesus' life coach.
