ok my mate is getting another 5850 and wants to crossfire ...never done it before are their any tips....and do you use 1 or 2 crossfire bridges ...also are all crossfire bridges the same ...ie one from a 4870 card ...thanks

Can't comment on the experience you'll have with the 5850s but it doesn't hurt to use more than one CrossFire bridge. Technically you shouldn't need it, however I did find noticeable performance gains with two installed for some reason. As far as I know the CrossFire bridge design hasn't changed in a while so they should work although I'm not 100% sure. If you do try it it won't do any harm if it isn't compatible, it just won't work.

As for drivers, I've personally found that using the latest AMD Catalyst rivers (That is, the latest beta drivers) improve performance. Uniengine Valley scored 300 more points.

You only need one Crossfire bridge. The Catalyst Control Centre (CCC) should prompt you to enable crossfire also when you boot into Windows.
