What do I need?

Hi guys,

Im currently running a watercool loop that is just catering for my CPU.

Im going to expand that in the coming weeks to allow my 2 graphics cards onto the same loop. I have the waterblocks for the cards already but I need to get the tubing, fittings and at some stage a new res/pump.

My immediate purchase this month will be the fittings, tubing and a 120 rad. I have a rad in mind which is http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-042-BX&groupid=962&catid=1523&subcat=1524. I have chosen this rad because its both slim and the positioning of the entry/exit holes allows me to create a more aesthetically pleasing rad (rather than a huge chunky thing which will take up too much space visually).

Thats all well and good but im unsure as to what I need in regards to tubing and fittings. What size should I be going for?

In regards to the fittings I was looking at getting the new monsoon range because they just look awesome.

As for the tubing im fairly easy on which brand to use, my only requirement being that its clear. Ill be eventually using mayems aurora dye (yea im aware ill need to change it often so I may just use the bottle i have then move on once the novelty leaves me :P). If you can suggest a better solution to tubing appearance, be it UV or whatever then im certainly open to suggestion.

Anyway id love it if one of you helpful fellows could enlighten me on what ill need in regards to size of tubing/fittings and how much of both ill need.

Thanks!

Oh as for the cooling loop itself if any of you are curious (or concerned ill be overheating) I have a 360 black ice rad which is currently cooling the cpu so I was thinking of having

360 rad->cpu->120 rad->GPU1->GPU2->pump/res->back to 360 rad.

Cheers!

Just use the same size fitting as you have now. I use 1/2 inch but have been watercooling for a long time and thats what I started with. I now use 1/2"ID and 5/8" OD tubing (also known as 16/13) as its more flexable but sometimes you need to use anti kink coil on it because it is so flexable. 3 metres should be enough for a whole loop. Masterkleer do a 3.3 metre pack which si excellant vlaue for money vs buyin 1 metre pieces.

Compression fittings seem to be the most populart ATM so just decide what size tubing your going to use and buy appropriate sized compression fittings. Monsoon fittings do look nice but are vastly over priced IMHO, but its your money :)

Thanks for the feedback.

How can I tell what size im using currently? It was a watercool loop that OCUK made when I ordered the PC.

Cheers :)

I just figured id look at the connections section on the main shop page and saw that there are no longer the direct metal tubing fittings for connecting SLI/Crossfire cards.

So now in their place we have bridges or some such. Im a little confused what this parallel and serial is all about. Anyone able to suggest?

Also I saw an EK bridge that would probably be required (the waterblocks I have are EK) and on its description it says I need to buy an additional 2 links to make it work. How the hell does all of this work?

Id be hugely grateful if someone could eplain this to me.

Thanks in advance!

dont waste your money just use 1 piece of the tubing your using cut to lenth with 2 hose bards. Like this:

I think the easiest way might be to email overclockers with the invoice/order number to see if they can tell you otherwise you will need to have to measure the internal size of your tubing.13mm is 1/2 inch etc.

I might just buy a load of of 1/2 hosing and fittings and go from scratch. Im going to be throwing most of the original loop out anyway.

Also thats a good solution to the bridge thing. I do however also like the look of the bridges :p

Also how come your SLI connector is flat?

The on I have for my two cards is really long so its all curled up (if that makes sense).

His is a solid one proberbly, i got one with my mobo, not like the old flexible ones i had on my last sli setup.
