What do use to monitor performance gains?

Been a while since I’ve benchmarked or overclocked and I’m doing a big ol’ upgrade so wondering what you use for:
  • Driving up temps and recording averages etc. CPU / GPU
  • Benchmarking graphics card (both synthetic and in-game)
  • Benchmarking CPU
I’d rather not pay for anything! Cheers.

MSI afterburner with rivatuner. Between ingame monitoring tools and Graph data plots in MSI afterburner, tells you everything you need.

I also will use GPU-Z and HWINFO

I like Kombustor/Furmark for GPU stress and Prime95 for CPU. That said, Furmark mostly tests power supply and graphics VRMs. It destroys performance by slamming the power limit constantly. Now I use 3DMark Firestrike for benchmarking and stability of GPU overclock.

HWinfo for broad data and min/max at a glance, afterburner for graphing of temps and clock speeds.

Screenshot the lot of them together after a benchmark, for a snapshot to refer to later!

It all depends on usage. If you are mainly gaming then things like 3D Mark, Unigine etc will be fine just make sure you have a spreadsheet with all the info on and plot a graph. If its for productivity then use something like Cinebench, Realbench, Passmark, aida64 etc. All free and provide all the information you require.

when i set a GPU overclock i run the fur mark bench mark and a few loops of 3DMark.

the best test is to just use the system. i had a 2500k @4.8 8hr prime stable, but it crashed when i open chrome

What about performance benchmarking?

are you just wanting to see the info basses on what you have done/upgraded, to see that your overclock made thing better.
OR are you wanting to benchmark and try to beat other people/members scores.

for the CPU to bench i use cinebench - https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/ocuk-cinebench-r15-benchmark-thread.18546142/
for the GPU i use 3DMark - Firestrike https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/official-3dmark-fire-strike-leaderboard.18485414/ / skydiver - https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/3dmark-sky-diver-benchmark-thread.18605041/

Thanks mate. It’s interesting to note against others, but the most important metric for me is measurable improvement from old setup/OC to new.

Really appreciate you and others contributing, things haven’t changed much since I last upgraded, very good to know.
