What do you all think of this guy?

I'm not convinced... that'd be very hard to do, since his whole body is in the shot - and would have to be perfectly positioned in the second record...

lets just say I know a LOT about magic and illusion. I wouldn't give the whole lot away but a fairly basic manovere coupled with a crafty couple of missing frames would achieve that easily.

I don't have much time for camera tricks tbh.

the only one i'm interested in is the spinning card trick he does, explain it!

edit* actually, just found it it's a card you buy

A hummer card trick is a magic trick involving making a playing card seem to hover. It employs a tiny thread of silk-like material that is not readily visible to the audience. The thread is attached to the center of any card by a small amount of wax. Magicians then tangle the thread around their fingers to control the movement of the card. Since the wax is not permanent, the card can be examined before and after the trick is done. Using more advanced set-ups, the card can also be made to float around the persons body or be thrown and come back.

Spoilt it for me now.

There aren't any. Maybe, just maybe, he's good at magic. But pick away...i'm stilling waiting to see something decent from you. ;)

I disagree, there are quite a few :)

I don't slate other magicians, but I don't like camera trickery, its simply not my thing.

I've just been teaching aruffnel the hummer trick over my webcam and dmpoole has posted it, nice one :p

EDIT - although that explanation isn't right :\

still waiting to see something decent from me?!

It doesn't explain how you can sit back and its still floating two foot in front of you unless the thread is coming from the ceiling also.

both effects you can pick up for about 12 quid from magic dealers. pretty straightforward stuff again.

Yeah the spoon one is more of a party trick.. I only have a passing interest in magic (although it facinated me when i was younger) and his techiques are simple, but in some ways quite effective when he does them well (although the spinning card on a string gets tiresome :o ).

Yeah the tricks aren't really anything special, but kudos to him for getting all the interest he has, and a TV contract, i'm sure with more funding, practice and experience, etc. he would be able to become pretty good.

I think I would be able to do the same, maybe better if I photoshopped each frame of the videos. :D
