What do you do with unknown texts?

I get a lot of blank text messages from people in my Contacts - mainly because my name begins with A - and I never do anything with them. Occasionally, however, I'll get texts from unknown numbers (usually more than one at a time).

Does anyone else experience the same thing? If so, do you text them back, or do you just assume it might be some naughty scam and ignore them?

Just curious :) and figured this didn't qualify as a discussion about phones, so put it in here.....

hehe when i had a nokia 3210 :O i had a girl in the address book and her name was the top contact, one morning i woke up to find i had no credit left :O and a day *** when i rang her, her mother answered going mad at me saying i keep stalking her ringing her in the night and not doing nothing and they could hear breathing then i clicked....in the night i rolled onto my phone pressed some buttons and rang her while asleep......

anyway she never believed me and never spoke to me again :D

We keep getting text messages to our home phone at weird hours of the night. This seems to happen because people don't pay attention to the number they are sending the text to. They assume that because it says one of our kids' names, it is their mobile number, when it turns out to be their home number.

Although the messages are really funny when they are read out, it is not much fun being woken up at 2 o'clock in the morning. What most people don't know is that your home phone is automatically set up for this unless you tell BT otherwise. We have tried doing this 3 times and we still get them.

Ive add a few, one saying "Hey Bro, got tickets for Kylie tomorrow", i was like why is my sister saying about Kylie tickets to me... i then generally continue the conversation for a bit see where it goes and then inform them after they have wasted some money they have the wrong number.

Gotta love the stray texts, you have to reply!! lol :D

Well i do atleast :)

its not very good when you actually send a text to the wrong number, i did that the other day, sent a txt to a girl's bf. thank god her name werent in the text, i said it was wrong number and she said he didnt trust her!

moral of the story, dont press reply, look at the number first..

I sent a girl who I'd just split up with a message that was designed for my mate. Needless to say it contained stuff about her. If memory serves me correctly she wasn't very happy and we haven't spoken since. Meh!

Anyway, if I find its a girl I'm texting randomly, its a chance to practice your chat up skillzors, throw a few new moves into the ring. Sadly it never happens to me anymore :(

txts are dangerous little things... although they can be good.. there was a couple once who got together (split form their partners) after one sent a msg to the wrong number

Lol sounds like something from trisha

just to be clear. i DO NOT watch trisha... i think it was on the radio at some point.. but serious.. send a txt to the wrong person at the wrong time.. not good! *speaking from experience*

I just ignore and delete them. Did have one text from a ">pers" which was odd as I didn't have that entry in my addy book, so contacted t-mobile to ask "wtf?"

I had one a couple of months ago asking about wedding arrangements in Australia. I strung them along for several texts (over several weeks) saying, yes the date was next spring, venue was some park in Sydney etc etc. She phoned me up one day going off the nut, saying I was impersonating her cousin, blah blah blah. I counter-ranted that I really was getting married in Australia in spring, how dare she impersonate a guest and she was no longer welcome.

I know a married couple who met through the girl typing in the wrong number when texting a friend. He recieved it (they had never met) and got chatting, met up and it went from there.
