do you keep them in your cuboard somewhere or do you put them on display to show everyone your amazing hardware!? i have mine on a shelf above my desk but only my gpu box (HIS 5830 mw2) mobo (asus p7p55d-e) PSU (ocz 600w) and RAM (corsair XMS3 4GB)

thanks ;)

I was wondering this as well.

Do people throw them away?

Like say in the future if you want to sell some parts does it have extra value if it comes in original box?

I'll probably keep for a month then chuck :P

AHHAHAHAHAH EXCITED :D:D:D:D:D:D

I keep mine in the loft, handy if you want to sell later on or if you need to RMA a item.

Stuff them in the loft for two reasons:

1. RMA
2. For resale

Looks better when you sell an item in it's original packaging plus it's a pain trying to hunt for suitable package for dispatch. Some manufacturers are pretty fussy about this.

another Chelmsford person.. Where abouts in Chelmsford are you?

keep them.

when I come to sell bits, I have packaging to post in, and can charge more money for complete items with box and instructions.

Used to just bin them once I knew everything was working, thats when I used to keep a pc for many years and do a rebuild then just hand pc down to family or whatever, now however since I started doing more frequent upgrades Ive come to realise you need the boxes if you want to sell on old kit, not so much for any resale value but just for suitable packaging really

That's true.

Returned a faulty (Samsung) HD & luckily still had the original packaging which I reused & did not have to worry about their stringent RMA requirements.

All in the spare room. Keeps spare components tidy and safe. I find it easier to sell on and put stuff where it belongs if theres big shiny labels on it xD

I'm not in chelmsford that's just the depot they're using.

I live in kelvedon it's about 20 minutes drive away.

Bin. It only adds a little in resale value. Besides, I buy my stuff to use it; not sell it. xD
Buyers will always prefer to purchase something boxed than not, based on experience selling via a well known auction site :)
