what do you do with your empy component boxes?

Lol if i put mine on show it would look like id opened a branch of PC World. Think Ive still got boxes for stuff I got rid of years ago too lol.

Dave

I keep mine, although ones like the 5850 I got for Xmas is on a shelf, in my room, to remind me how lucky I am.

well i threw out the ram box, still got the gpu, cpu, mobo and psu.

though i can`t find the mobo or gpu box now, i can`t remember where i put them lol

i was thinking of selling the cpu cooler as it is spare.

i use the psu box for storing all the stuff from the build, i.e. manual, win 7 disc, drivers etc and screws and TIM and extra cables etc.

i still have the old gpu box from my old computer because i kept all the relevent manuals win and driver disc. could be a good idea to keep as well.

recycle

edit: Unless its a sturdy box (PSU's sometimes) in which case i throw a load of cables in it and put it in the loft

I keep everything just in case of RMA's and later on to re-sell. I find that things sell better and for more, boxed with all the accessories.

Stuff them in the loft for two reasons:

1. RMA
2. For resale

Looks better when you sell an item in it's original packaging plus it's a pain trying to hunt for suitable package for dispatch. Some manufacturers are pretty fussy about this.

another Chelmsford person.. Where abouts in Chelmsford are you?

I live up by the Army and Navy roundabout opposite the Queen B.

I tend to keep the boxes for about month then chuck them out but I keep the anti static bags.

I keep them in the loft, they don't take up a huge amount of space and will make any hardware re-sales a lot more appealing to a potential buyer.

Besides, some sad sad part of me thinks most of them are just too pretty to throw away...

Keep them, my room is in the attic (living with parents whilst not at Uni), so the boxes go under the eaves, out of the way, but there if I need them for RMA or resale...

As OCUK and others put their stickers on the box, you should not throw away during warranty period.
I put all packaging and warranty info inside the box and store in the loft.

andy.

Always a good idea to keep the boxes for a while at least for RMA purposes.

Once I'm satisfied everything is working properly I will start to throw away the boxes of items that I know I won't be reselling in the future.

I drive my wife up the wall because I always keep any boxes for at least as long as the warranty lasts. We have a ton in the spare room and my PC related ones are under our bed. I need to get the attic sorted for proper hording purposes :).

I am always telling family and friends to keep them at least for a few months to allow for returns but they never do.

Always keep component boxes, shove the smaller ones into the larger boxes. Always handy to have the original boxes if the need to rma arises or when selling parts on.
