What do you guys think of this spec?

Right ok then. I'll get 7.5 and I might as well download Ad-aware 2007, because I had that before Norton and it didn't do a bad job to say the least. Threee seperate programs might not be as good as one, but if it takes away the problems that occur when you've got Norton (such as, in my case, the amount of system resources it takes up), I think that's infinitely better.

I should be gettin my rig tomottor, but the place where I ordered it from emailed me (and texted me :)) after cutoff to say that an item wasn't in stock (one of the 8800gt's actually lol). So i might not be gettin it tomorrow :( Maybe if I bribe city link or somethin ;) Anyway. Should have it on Friday. I hope. Been lookin forward to gettin it since last nite as well lol

EDIT: Do you guys think I should start a new thread if I have any problems with my build or just ask the questions in this one? I just don't really want to use up too many people's time by havin another thread.

probly best to start a new thread if you have problems, and post a link on this thread to it.

and I ordered my system from the same site as you and my GTX wasn't in stock even though there site said it was, so it was delievered two days later, despite paying for next day delivery.

Ok then I will do. Although touchwood I won't have to do anything like that lol :)

And yeah! They said that Asus was in stock on theior site, and a day after I ordered it, they tell me it isn't. Must be kinda hard to keep track of stock, but still, you'd expect it to update as soon as it was out.

I guess I've just gotta wait now. I really want it to come tomorrow to give me somethin to do lol, but I can see the chances of them dispatching it and it getting to me on the same day being pretty slim.

Whats happened to your siggy?

I agree with Yantorsen about a new thread if you have any problems. Don't worry about taking up peoples time either. That's what these forums are for. To help people. As for 3 program mybe not as good as one. They should be better than one as they don't pretend to cover all problems and fail miserably. They do what they say they do and no more. Saying that, they do what they say they do extremely well. I use all of those programs on my pc's and i also install them on the pc's i build for people. There is no need to go and buy stuff when the free ones are just as good, and in a lot of cases, better than the paid for stuff.

As for the 8800GT, they seem to be quite scarce now just about everywhere.

Ok guys I've started a new thread with some trouble I've been havin. Got It all built though :) link here. Mainly with the graphics card. Have a look anyway, see if you've got any ideas. Thanks for all the help so far guys

Ok so I posted on that other thread, and then my system got goin again ok lol. I thought thta might happen. It just needed a restart. Everythin seems to be running ok, and I've got my e2180 up to 2.5Ghz from 2, which isn't the best, but I've not had the time to get it stable enough any higher than that. At 2.66 the comp either kept freezin up or programs kept crashin. I think all it needs is a bit more voltage (the cpu), but I'll probably clock it to that and higher when I've got more time (goin to foo fighters this weekend :) woo, so I'll do it after that).

Rest of it seems to be goin ok. I tired usin the overclocking program that gigabyte provided but I really disliked it. I actually think using the BIOS is safer, even if it does take longer.

Oh btw, another question.. (i know, you all thought you'd seen the last of them :D), do any of you guys know what kinda volts I should be puttin through an e2180 to get it to 3Ghz? Maybe I should start a new thread in the overclockin section for this.

Thanks a bunch anyway guys for all your help

EDIT: I'll post some pictures when I get the time, I've just gotta open a photobucket account lol

Cpu's vary as to what voltage they need. Some just need a small increase, some a bigger one. Personally i have no experience with a 2180 aside from what i have read on here and other forums. As a starter i would have a read of this third table down is what you need. There are two on there at 3.75ghz  . I would'nt really be happy about putting more than 1.55v through it on air. Keep an eye on temps as well. Overclocking in the bios is far better than using software in windows IMO.

Thanks for the links guys :) I think I've got a subscription to that e2140/2160 thread but I see your point, and I will have a look at that. And that table is pretty invaluable. Thanks for that pastymuncher. I think the problem was is that I wasn't puttin enough volts though it, I'm at 1.3 now I think. I'll stick to your guidelines though and I'll try to stay away from any higher than 1.55, even if I do have an after market cooler on it.

Btw, I ran the crysis demo on it all, and it runs just great. All the textures turned up, and no drop in frame rate. I haven't turned any of the anti aliasing on yet but I don't see the need to atm. THank the lord for the 8800gt ;)

Right ok then. It's built and stable and I've got it to 3.33Ghz (from 2, which is quite a big overclock lol). Really glad you guys told me to get this processor lol. If it wasn't for you lot, I'd be stuck with a Q6600 and an 8600GT, and gettin nowhere near 11400 in 3DMark 06 :D

And here's the pics of it, buy request :) Sorry if they're a bit blurry. I only used the flash on one.

The front, in all it's glory :p

The way I have it set up

The insides. It was difficult to keep the wires all neat and tidy, even with a modular PSU lol.

Btw, is there any way to change the name of this thread so people don't look at it thinkin it's still a spec thread? lol

It's looking pretty good :)

could do with some better cable management though.

And you can ask a Don to rename your thread.

Might just be easier to start a new thread with them, called Pics of my new build, or something along those lines, if you can be bothered.

plus there's a few "official threads" for cases pictures, and computer room pictures, things like that, and monitor and desk picture threads, and things, have a look for those and post there.

Lol I really would sort the cables out but I've not got the patience at the moment lol. I'm gonna wait until I've clocked it properly, although I might just stop at 3.3 or maybe 3.5. The things is, My 8800GT comes right near the back of the case, and it also has one of those 6 pin pci express connectors coming out of the back.

It's sorta made worse by the four fan cables, and the fact that the PSU is at the bottom of the case, so the wire have to travel all the way up the front lol. And I've got a big beefy IDE cable hanging around with the rest of the gang :)

Can't complain though, the airflow's great, and my temps never go near a dangerous level. I will get it sorted though when I'm happy with the clocking business. Hehe and anyway, you can't see much of it when the window's on, and when people come round who don't know a cpu from a gpu, they all just assume it should look like that. You normally get the comment 'wow! it looks so complicated' :D

When really it was just a big lego set with wires :p

Oh btw, temps are 30C Idle, 53C Load, not gonna push it past 3.5 I think
