When you see 4 stock Titans playing BF4 at a resolution equivalent to 5160 x 3200 maxed out and seeing how smooth and stunning it is, you will know how good they are. By comparison 4 x 290Xs don't look anything like as smooth and struggle a bit due to the lack of vram.

I'm not knocking Titan performance at all, don't get me wrong. They are fine cards. But in the context of this thread I wouldn't say they have influenced anything, well apart from the price grab, TITAN!!!!
And Mantle, a non specific 1:1 kernal driver to 1:1 GPU kernal driver that will bypass all the MS DX overheads and obfuscate Windows and provide blistering non OS limited GPU performance. I cant wait. But again. It has no relevance to this thread at all. Its possibly influential tech, the same way the Steam Linux OS and Steam boxes are. But no relevance here.

Well, Titan certainlly IS the one of the most influential card in the last few years; if we were talking about it in the sense of single-handedly inflating the prices of mainstream gaming cards, none can compare to it

Yes. I wasn't concerned about whether I liked the result of the influence - which seems to be the thing that carries the main arguments from most people here
Had the 8800 GT myself back in the day - great card.

Had a 8800gtx thati got for cheap and didn't really need that power so bought an 8800gt asus with company of heroes opposing forces . Remember it fondly!
Greatest impact overall on the hole market and pioneered the word Graphics Processing Unit - the GeForce256
Then the "GeForce4 Ti4600 killer" aka ATi Radeon 9700Pro 128MB ! now talk about performance boost gone wild !. (Sadly I haven't one any more).
More recently I'd say this GeForce 7950GX2 ! Dual PCB GPUs. Not because it was succesful or so but because nVidia (ATi) learned a lot from it on how to improve future Dual GPU configurations (still think it's more succesful tech wise than Voodoo5 5500 and Rage Fury MAXX)
Then that last card to really haul pixels through many years was the GeForce 8800GTX - 768mb ram and 320bit memory bus really made this card last long, and can to this day still push a few new games at lower quality settings.
I had a BFG GeForce 8800GTX XXX Edition in my drawer for years as back up card - now a friend of mine uses it for light gaming and he loves it.
After this I think it's has been more "yay's" than "Wooohoooo's" performance wise.

I tried on page1, got shouted down by a mob of people who just wanted to pop in and shout "8800" over and over.
Not a card that fits into a 'few years', but the Voodoo 5500 I had was the first card I had that really sticks in my mind. Powerful, smooth performance and handled AA very well. Then, along came the next generation of titles, and literally overnight I needed to upgrade as it couldn't handle any of them well (as low as 1 or 2 fps in Unreal 2 : The Awakening). I think I had the pleasure of using the voodoo 5 for around two and a half years.

For me, it's the 5870. Double the performance of the 4870, massively lower idle power and temperature, and the ability to game on 3 screens (or more for the Eyefinity version of the card) made this a game changer in my book.
What I came in here to post. 58xx cards were like Christmas. Bucketloads of performance, good power efficiency and new features. And it wasn't that expensive either.
Imagine if that's what we got every year instead of rebadged cards from last year.

Going with this one. It seemed to last for an eternity and was a reasonable price for the performance.
Closely run by the 9700pro which again was amazing performance for it's price.

I would have to say the 690 because of its advanced cooling which allowed 2x680s to run at speeds very similar to there sli counterparts. Not only that it was the first Dual GPU to have Hardware based Frame metering technology which was so good the 690 worked better than 2x680's in sli. The 690 also paved the way for future cards with the a similar cooler reference design. The card still holds up today performance wise, a leader and a first.
