This is probably redundant as Ive already ordered, but Ive just splashed out on some new gear. I was going to buy this which seems an excellent deal in itself, but then decided to save some money and bought it separately, replacing the processor with an OEM (Im getting a Themrmalright cooler anyway) and the RAM combo with this.

So altogether I'm getting;

Thermalright SI-128 CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/LGA755)
(£24.99)
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC2 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
(£169.99)
Asus M2N-SLi Deluxe (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
(£61.99)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ 3.00GHz (Socket AM2) - OEM
(£79.99)
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2P800R22GK)
(£36.99)
Arctic Cooling Arctic Fan 12L 120mm Fan - 3 Pin
(£4.99)

City Link Parcel Next Day (Delivered Mon-Fri): £8.95

TOTAL (Inc. VAT): £455.77

Seems to me like a fantastic deal....what looks like a bloody quick machine for sub £500. Once again, OCUK to the rescue :)

To be honest though, Ive not upgraded anything for so long, Im not sure whats good anymore, so I jsut sorta dived in....reckon this will be a good machine? Im upgrading from a 6800GS/1GB RAM/Athlon XP 3200+ (2.2GHz).

Why amd if you're going to get overclockable parts anyhow?
Go amd if you're getting the cheapst 20 quid mobo, if you have money for a good board go intel and overclock it, will blow away the AMD.

2 quid over budget, but much better ( faster cpu with even more oc potential, and 640 mb gfx )

Hmm, Ill be honest, the only reason I chose AMD was because simply, Ive always used them, so when I came to upgrade, I chose the same.

Overclocking is not an issue for me, Ive never been bothered by it....didn't realise the components I were choosing were suitable really for clocking anyway....I chose them mainly because their prices were good. I was hoping to keep it around £450, although your spec does look good....now Im tempted to cancel, but I don't want to fall into the trap of spending much mroe than I'd planned.

Gah, I hate upgrading! :o
