what do you want to achieve?

To be happy with a family and good friends. A job that i don't dread going to in the morning.

craig there is no point living if you don't enjoy it, and at the same time are a hinderance to others around you. People may say its a selfish thing to say, and "how can you say things like that, when people are so much more worse off than you?"... well its all relative, thats my 2 cents

Precisely, as to why if he had said in more detail his depressing situation, I would have understood his dispair. I can't imagine the feeling of potentially losing a brother :(

He just sounded like one of those throw-a-way life because it sucks, angsty types, thats all.

its whether reincarnation believes in you
dont mean to insult but i found that funny :p
i dont personally believe in re-incarnation or afterlife or any spiritual things and its not because im sceptical.

My long term (highly unlikely) goal is to stay alive long enough until we have the medical technology to allow us to live extremely long lives. To be able to enjoy life at a leisurely pace without having to worry about money or commitment for long periods sounds good to me!

I'm quite happy where I am at the moment, but in the next couple of years, I'd quite like to get myself into a state where I can run the London marathon. But first, my goal is to get over my stupidly bad sense of self-consciousness and get out running more often.

Not the afterlife, reincarnation... and it doesn't matter whether you believe in it or not - its whether reincarnation believes in you

if reincarnation is true, how come the population of the earth is increasing.. where are all these new souls coming from ;)

Anyhow, make a difference to the world, and hopefully earn a bit of money along the way :D

1. Pass all my exams to become a Doctor!
2. Have someone love me as much as I love them and live happily ever after :o
3. Keep the amazing friends I have here forever :)
4. (in many many years) raise a beautiful child (maybe two!) to have as good a life as I've had so far (thanks to my wonderful folks! :D)

What will you come back as? An arse? :D

I'd like what other people like. Maybe a family, good job, all around successful and to be happy.

Lately I've been thinking I'd like to be able to enjoy life without feeling so concerned with having expensive material posessions. Its nothing that can be achieved over night but in time I hope to be a person of more substance and someone who values life.

I feel like we all concentrate on the things society expect us to do. Education, job and the rest of it, yet there is something soo much more meaningful to discover. I want to be able to appreciate every breath I take, every moment because it's all a gift yet so insignifcant compared to whats to come.

Id also like to crush my enemies, see them driven before me and to hear the lamentations of their women.

To become at one with the universe, to become THE one, to become NEO!!!!!!!1!!one!!eleven!1!

Seriously though, probably the same as everyone else, to be in a Job i enjoy, be happy and be healthy. I would also love to experience space travel at some time.

I dunno... Own a nice car...
Whatever you do achieve, you end up the same way as everyone else... So it all seems pointless really...
I would like to be rmembered I guess... That would mean something :)

Career wise I want to finish uni with a decent grade and get a job as a games programmer. I think I've got a pretty good chance of achieving that. However I'd also like to have a family some day and there is less chance of that happening. Especially with my choice of career, it's not going to make it easy.

I'd like to be listed as one of the 100 richest people in the world in The Sunday Times Rich List. That would require about £3bn at the moment. I'd like to be able to quit whatever job I was in to make such an insane amount of money and live off the presumably insane amounts of interest. Add in a lovely partner and a couple of kids and I'd be one happy bunny!

I'm young, I've got my whole life ahead of me. Anything is possible :)

I'd like to happy. Which will probably consist of:

Having a good job (stress free, working from home sort of thing) including having a good wage.
Finishing education to a MSc level.
Enjoying myself, going out, spend time with people I like.
Take life easy.

Basically I want to be as stress-free as possible and not have to worry.

Being happy is nice, but as long as i'm not worrying i'm fine. Sometimes a good sulk is healthy anyway; cue sticking on some brutally heavy music, lighting up and enjoyin' broadband. ;)

My plan is to finish my degree, then do a country-wide tour of the UK with my band getting hammered in local pubs as much as possible while making as many friends as possible. After that i intend to marry my long-term g/f, settle down in a crappy office job (Fight Club comes to mind :D) and enjoy lifes little luxuries till i'm about 30, then hopefully start a family.

Hopefully by then me and my baby will have saved enough to put a down payment on a quiet little detached place, so i can have my music room/entertainment centre á la whatever big screen technology is available then.

That's all i'd need to of achieved to get what i really wanted from life.

I don't care where I am in 10 or 20 years time, as long as i'm healthy, happy and content with who and where I am.

I agree with many of the sentiments already suggested here. I'm 20, and not ashamed to say I would like to have children one day.

In the near future, i'd like to finish my degree and help get my brother back on his feet who I suspect to be depressed. After my degree it's a toss up between being an officer in the armed forces or an MA/MSc level of education. I'd like for my parents to see grandchildren too.

I have first dibs. Get in line.

I've worked out how to do it if you're interested :p

Check the emo thread lingering about from yesterday.

I want to write just one incredibly incisive and innovative research paper - something that applies old techniques in a thus far unfathomed way. The kind of thing that Martin Golubitsky and Ian Stewart seem to do on a daily basis. That would make me happy. :)

now out of those 3, try to guess which 2 are not true...
