what do you wear when you board a plane?

Generally combats that zip off and become shorts, then a t-shirt / vest under a thin hoody...depends how cold it is here and how hor im expecting it to be when i get there, and skate shoes...though these are all i wear anyways so just go for my comfiest DCs :)

I just travel nude just need carry on bag then :)

Joke aside!

Depends where im going on holiday! IF blazing hot shorts t-shirt

Depends what I am going to be doing the other end. If I'm flying with work in business I tend to be smarter, if I'm just mincing about for my own leisure, whatever is the most useful thing to be wearing when I get there.

I met a very pompous bloke once who said he would never fly in anything less smart than a blazer (leisure / holidays included). Tim nice but dim.

Depends on the nature of the flight and which class i've been stuck in.

- Holidays i usually wear Jeans, Trainers, T-Shirt and a top i can take off should i get too warm.

- Business long distance i always fly Business / First Class, so Trousers, Shoes, Shirt (with or without tie) or a Suit.

- Business short distance (Manchester - Aberdeen) will usually be normal class on a small plane, if i don't have a meeting right after i land i will go quite casual, if not its a Suit & Tie job.

Mind saying that if i'm flying evenings like Manchester - Milan for a meeting the next day even if i'm Business class i will go casual.

So in summay it depends on the type of flight, time of day, when i have a meeting and which class i'm in.

Shorts and T-shirt usually, combats if it's a bit cooler on either end.

My next flights will be the first longhaul I've taken so comfort may be more of a consideration than flying around Europe.

To those of you that travel business/first, why wear a suit if you're already in? Do you feel you have to?

even if i was flying first class, i would wear whatever was comfortable, I wouldnt sit there like a douche fully suited and booted, it would be too damn uncomfortable on anything longer than an hour.

in fact I would probably dress down even more because I wouldnt care that I was wearing a hoody or whatever as my ticket would still get me my first class seat

Hate sitting in the Business Lounge looking like a vagrant.

I like to wear the same / similar in the Business Class lounge at Euston when i'm going 1st on the train.

You don't sit on the plane with your suit jacket on, the only occasion i keep mine on is short flights (Manchester - Aberdeen) it's simply not worth the hassle of removing and putting it back on.

On a longer flight even if you board in a suit, you take your jacket off, hang it up, then you're left with a shirt and trousers, no less comfy than jeans and a t-shirt.

A vagrant? Lol.

Fair enough I suppose, personally if I have bought the ticket then I'll wear whatever I like, I do not care for people who judge based on what people wear so they can think what they like :)

I can only assume by that assertion that you don't fly business or first class very often. If you did, you'd realise that the majority of lounge dwellers are dressed like vagrants! Especially in the likes of Heathrow where people connect from one long haul flight to another. You get the suits for a short while early in the morning and later in the evening but any other time it's fairly casual.

There's no shame in dressing casually when entering an airline lounge. It's not an exclusive club or anything. It's somewhere you go to wait for your next flight in relative silence, except for the people in said suits who often like to conduct "business" loudly on their phones...

"Hi, it's John. I'm in the Business Lounge. Let's do some Business. So how many photocopiers can we sell today?"
