What does Curly Kale taste like?

I bought some but haven't cooked it yet, I think I'll steam it. I love spinach but thought I'd try kale. One of the reasons I'm buying spinach and kale is because they're high in Lutein. My mum has macular degeneration and Lutein is known to help prevent it. Kale has twice the amount per 100g as spinach.

Is it nice? Would adding black pepper and lemon juice work? I do that after I've steamed spinach and it makes the spinach much nicer.

It taste nothing like spinach, it tastes like cabbage but with a more crunchy bite and slight sweet ? taste.

I normally put a bit of oil in a sauce pan, bit of garlic, then put in the whole bag, keep moving it, and then a dash of water for steam, close the lid for a minute and then serve.

Kale is delicious. Just steam it for a few minutes and you're good to go tbh. When I have it I just cook a giant pile of it to go with whatever dish I've made.

My preference is to massage it with some olive oil and lemon juice then use it as a salad base with something sweet like tangerine segments, strawberries, pomegranate seeds and something like toasted sunflower seeds. Much tasty :)

Or make kale chips nom nom nom.

Kale is delicious.

If you're not enjoying it or want to take it in with high quantity, put it into a smoothie - lots of good kale smoothie recipes out there. :)

Ive been eating it regular for 2 weeks but I dont even know what it tastes like lol.

Ive just been throwing it in with some spinich and some berries for a weird morning smoothie. Not the most heavenly concoction I admit! .

I love kale and I do believe it is very good for you too. More so than regular cabbage etc anyway. I was on a training course yesterday and one of the lunch options was a kale caesar salad which was really nice. I presume they just blanched it and let it cool, then made the salad out of it.

Can I say yuck? :(

Really didn't enjoy the kale after steaming it and adding some lemon juice. Strong taste, not very pleasant, and certainly didn't get any hint of sweetness as Raymond mentioned. Give me savoy cabbage any day. Still, I might buy it now and then just for it's Lutein content.
