What does S stand for?

Seriously its just marketing spiel thats all.

Thought so. So why aren't Apple taking everyone to court for taking their letter. I can only assume Apple weren't the first person to use the S on their phones although I can't think of it.

Also surely companies can come up with a series of more exciting letters to stick on their phones like Samsung Galaxy POW! or something :p

That would be much better, be like "Hey like my POW!".

not sure if you could copyright a letter. I think it was '3' that tried to sue someone years ago and the court said that you can't just claim a number for yourself. Might not have been '3' but I think it was.

S is associated with 'speed' and positive things, so that is why it's used. It's a marketing letter and nothing else.

The higher trimmed Audi's are called the 'S-Line' for example.

Samsung probably use it because their first real phone was a copy of the 3GS.

Sony - misguided as always.

Not at all, I'm merely expressing my amusement in you trying to imply iPhone users are 'special' and making yourself look a bit special in the process.

Unless your first post was serious, but I suspect it wasn't.
