Hi, So it's nearly time to upgrade and I'm edging toward the SGS2 due to me being a bit of a computer nerd and loving the dual core aspect... so I was wondering what is out there that stretches the droid phones of today?

What graphics card is in the SGS2 Robbo? As I am totally blown away by the graphics this phone can do.

It's a Mali-400MP. Pretty capable.

Have a look at Galaxy On Fire 2 THD, looks great on a Tegra 2 device.

Root, install Chainfire 3D and you don't need a Tegra 2 device. I've just put Galaxy on Fire THD on my Galaxy S II and it looks amazing.

You should do it Tank if you like games, dead simple.

...and that's only using ~30/40% of Mali 400's potential with no optimisation.

Lot's of decent games, like shadowgun, coming over the next 6 months + iOS games (where's all the stuff like Deadspace, Infinity Blade etc? They were ported to Android last year lol)

Not quite yet :p

The "SGS4" should match em for pure theoretical performance but power consumption will always be a major factor. (Unless your docked to your TV, tablet or something else with a bigger power source)

Do you have root? If not, you need it. It's really very simple, it basically just unlocks Superuser permissions on the phone, so the 'good stuff' can be modified.

That thread explains it all, just read it very carefully and you'll be able to do it fine, it looks far more complicated than it actually is. Just make sure you have the right files (kernel for your software version), etc.

Then look at this video, nice and simple -

Whoosh .

Like **** am I attempting that I'm a certified noob when it comes down to that kind of thing, that may be simple to you Robbo but to me you just asked me to build a rocket ship to get to the moon and back.

I've already rooted and have CWM in the app drawer. I can use that to flash the kernel cant I?

It's just some software that you use for flashing the phone, there's a link to it at the bottom of that post. Odin3-v1.85.zip (198.4 KB, 7176 views)
