Hi guys,

doing a maths problem..

Transpose the following formula to make 'a' the subject of the formula:

d = ut + 1/2at^2

Does transpose just mean rearrange? as thats easy, just wondering what it means when it says transpose??

Any help much appreciated as always :)

2dat^2 = ut + 1

ut + 1 + 2d
------------- = a
ut^2 + 1

2d
a= ----
t

Not that complicated answer you gave :p

Your first line is wrong, the OPs answer is correct. To verfiy, go back to the start and put in your value of a, and his value of a.

EDIT: to make it easier for yourself, move the terms you need (ie anything with a) to one side, and the ones you don't (ie terms without a) to the other. That way you will get a = (2(d-ut)/t^2), which is much easier to re-substitute.
