What editing software do you use?

Capture one, it does everything I need and handles x trans files more cleanly than Adobe. Also f*ck adobe.
It's just a shame they removed the free camera specific versions.

Lightroom and LR Classic on Mac but only because you guys told me how to lock in and stack multi-year subscriptions when Amazon have them on offer.

I still strongly dislike Adobe and the iPad versions of their apps are so unbelievably bad and unoptimised frankly I'm pretty sure someone will launch a class action at some point.

Davinci Resolve, moved over from Magix Vegas and Premiere years ago.

Bit overkill if all you want to do is simple clipping but you can churn out quick videos if you want to, or have substantial projects.

Using Lightroom and Davinci Resolve.

But Adobe's subscription is starting to get expensive so looking for alternatives.

Lightroom Classic as I learned on it and like it but recently moved over to LR and PS and they run like dog ****. I'm enjoying the potential of PS. I might need to look elsewhere though as the performance is laughable.

Davinci Resolve for video - excellent software.

I am sure that the demands of AI this, that, and everything else, is putting too much demand on older hardware. Check out youtube for alternatives. On1photoRAW 2026 is looking good.

Yes I got a rather cryptic email from them yesterday about signing up for a preview of things to come. Suspect it has something to do with the purchase by Canva a while back.

FWIW, if anyone hasn’t already seen it over on HUKD, the iPad version of Affinity Photo 2 is now free. (As is designer and illustrator).

To be honest the Affinity forums seemed to be more about Designer and Publisher than Photo even though it was requested to separate them.

It was not hard to see what was going to happen once Serif as a company was acquired. If community is lucky it will just be a price increase as Affinity Photo was a bit of a bargain compared to other paid software out there.

I am in a same boat though at the moment trying to see which photo software to go with so will check out the recommendations here.

I dont use Affinity Photo much but it was a bargain and very good for composites. There is very little choice if you dont want to go down the subscription route, as Capture 1, DxO photolab 9 plus NikEffects, and Luminar Neo can get a bit pricey to buy outright if you want the full capability of the program.
