I am encouraged by the number of people who do use or have used Thunderbird. I really like it. I've used Outlook Express (never again!) and Outlook at work but Thunderbird just does it for me. I admit that Outlook is quite a contender for Thunderbird but I find that Outlook just has too much functionality that I don't need. Mainly office/businessy stuff that is just not what I need.
Some people use Outlook for the calendar feature. I wonder if they are aware of the Mozilla calendar project. I admit that its profile is seriously low. Firefox is what Mozilla concentrate on with Thunderbird a distant second. However the calendar project is so far behind it'd have problems even qualifying for the British GP. I have to admit then when I check on the Mozilla site to see the progress made on the calendars, I have troubles finding the flipping calendars page.
There are two types of calendar that Mozilla are working on. One installs into Thunderbird as an extension, so effectively like Outlook. The other is a standalone calendar app.
