What equipment for making music on the pc?

Have you tried doing what I just explained above?

Basically, you're creating a 'false' mp3; because you are merely saving a text file as <whatever>.mp3, the encoding is not perfect, giving that hollow echo sound to it.

If you spend a LOT of time playing around with *.wav files in notepad, you can get some interesting stuff...

I remember opening a .wav and deleting/moving random carachters. It never played again :D . I might have to try what your saying though, it sounds interesting.
