What exactly does the "i" stand for? iPod. iTunes. iLife. iPhone.

Agreed an mp3 is an mp3, same data. My cowon iaudio player (getting on a bit, wierd how they were allowed to use i- in the name) has a load of equaliser settings which make everything sound a lot nicer with my shure e2c earphones. Improves the range no end.

I have a custom EQ function on my Creative MuVo V200 and it's superb. The sound that I get from my Phillips something or rather ear buds (cheap version of something like an e2c) is vastly improved with the custom EQ.

Got a nano for chirstmas......volume isnt that loud. If im on the bus i usually put the volune to about 9/10ths up cause i dont want the old lady next to me getting annoyed at hearing "whatcha think all the guns is for? all purpose war got the rottweilers by the door and I feed em gun powder so they can devour The criminals tryin to drop my decimals"

iPod sounts gay if it was an internet pod :eek:

It started with the iMac, not the iPod.
Our survey says... ding ding ding!

The iMac was introduced in 1998, and the "i" prefix was passed on to the iBook when it was introduced in 1999. I assume that in these cases the "i" did stand for "Internet," and that makes perfect sense. The iPod wasn't released until late 2001, at which point most people were in the dark about the meaning of the iMac/iBook names and Apple just decided to throw the "i" prefix in the name because it fit in line with their existing products. Since then, iLife has come out with iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, iWeb bundled, the iPod has evolved significantly and now the iPhone has been released.

Oddly, the wiki page for the ipod has a picture of Sean Connery on it.
Wiki = A web application which allows users to add, edit or delete content collectively
Wikipedia.org = a website which uses a popular wiki web application and has taken on the task of becoming an online encyclopaedia
Wiki != Wikipedia

The standard earbuds are shocking. Buy some shure/bose/etymotic and really "hear" your music. What you get through standard earbuds just sounds crap.

My daughter uses the standard earbuds with her ipod so I thought I'd give her a treat and let her try my Shure E4c's.

" Dad, theyre such rubbish, give me back the others" !! :(

Saw something on bbc news yesterday about Cisco apparently suing Apple over the iPhone name. Sounds a bit silly but hey, go Cisco! :p

To be fair Cisco have owned the name "iPhone" for years and have been using it for one of its own products. Apple did ask to use the name. Apple being a big American corporation didn't actually wait for an answer and used it anyway :D
