What external caddy?

Hi all,

Toying with the idea of putting my old 120GB IDE drive into an external caddy so i can take files to friends places much more easily.
theres hundreds of different boxes to choose from and whilst i'm sure it doesnt make much of a difference are what are the better ones around the cheaper end of the market?

only really needs USB connectivity, not too fussed on the others.

What can you point me at, cheers.

If it's just for a plain IDE drive then there's no point in spending huge amounts.

cheers dude - i remember looking at icy boxes ages ago.

and this'll be fine for permanent connection to my pc aswell? it'll just register as a "removable drive" ?

It will show up as another HDD

and be named whatever you name it.

I have 2 Icy Boxes - IDE (with USB2 & Firewire) and SATA (USB2 & SATA).

The latter had to be replaced after about 6 months. I have not had a chance to try out the new one yet - forgot it was IDE, and I have no spare IDE drives (only SATA).

Buy icy boxes they rock
I have had 5 different types of them and they are worth the money

The IDE ones are about 17 inc vat

There's a dynamode model on the market that costs next to nothing. Not as slick as the IcyBox but gets the job done.
