I just saw a review of Return to Oz (http://cinemassacre.com/Home_page/frameset.html) and I forgot how many things scared me in that film, especially the bit where Dorothy had to get the potion from the cupboard with the head in it. And the wheelers! Gives me chills to this day. As a kid I also never liked the ghost in the library from Ghostbusters.

Did any films make you scared as a kid?

Batman Returns scared me a bit, esp. the bit where michelle is grinding up her soft toys in the waste disposal :(

Jaws. Think I saw some of it when I was really young. I had a big bed, almost a bunk bed when I was little and so when I woke up in the morning and jumped onto the floor I felt like I was jumping out of a boat into the sea. :(

Hence me legging it out of my room! :D

Same, film terrified me and still to this day feel uncomfortable watching underwater scenes in movies. :p

Not a film, but the Jeff Wayne version of war of the worlds. My brother locked me in a room with the light off with it playing. Scared the hell out of me!:(

The Women In Black

:(

1989, no wonder it scared me I was 6.

oh god I never want to see this film again lol read... a little copy and paste from wikipedia.

"Arthur and his family are on a lake, rowing peacefully and gently, when Arthur sees the Woman in Black standing on the lake, watching him. Petrified, he does nothing, until his wife screams. A tree falls on their boat, crushing all within it."

What was a 6yr old doing watching that!

Independence Day :o

In fact it's probably the only film to have ever actually scared me

wtf its an action film lol.

I saw Alien when I was 8, and Hellraiser when I was 10. Scared me a bit but not like I lost any sleep over it.

I guess my parents weren’t overly responsible...

I stayed at a friends and his older brother had Nightmare On Elm Street. We thought we'd watch it. We were 9 and 10. Huge mistake. The scene were Depps character is pulled into the bed and the blood spews out of the matress... ****** me up for WEEKS! Wouldn't get into bed without checking under it. Had to have a light on. I still have nightmares about being pulled into a matress.

Another one that got me as a kid was The Exorcist - the furore that caused!

Went to see it at the pictures when it was on a couple of years ago and was totally surprised to hear most of the audience laughing at various parts of it. Just goes to show you how things change.

Another one was Texas Chainsaw Massacre, people were talking about that for years.

Both of those were illegal at some point weren't they?

Legend - watched it when I was really young and my dad used to tell me that the prince of darkness lived in a cave that was near our house...

I watched The Shining when i was about 9, and it scared the hell out of me. It was the twins that did it. It's actually my favourite movie of all time now, probably because no other film iv'e seen has had the same shock value. Apart from Visitor Q.....
