I looking a getting a Focus, i already have one and am looking to get a "newer" model. After doing some looking i could get up to a 2010 Reg Focus but they seem to have high mileage i.e 80 - 100000plus. My current Focus is a 02 and has 91000 on the clock.

Here are a few

Do these look any good?

£4k is a good budget for a Focus. Ignore the moron above.

From the links you've selected a 1.6 L diesel, 2.0 L petrol, and a 1.8 L diesel.

What do you want: diesel or petrol?

RE mileage: don't worry about it so much. As long as the car has been taken care of the car should be absolutely fine irrespective of mileage. Check to see it's been serviced every year, belts changed, wheel bearings changed etc.

No really fussed in regards to petrol or diesel. The links were just an example of cars i have found whilst doing a quick look around. However since the links are there, which is the better deal ? What year from say 2006 -2010 has the better Focus', if that makes sense. I drive about 20miles a day to work all but 2 of that is on a motorway

From the sound of your mileage stick to a petrol. Also, arguably there are less things to go wrong in a petrol.

If you're buying a mk2 Focus go with the facelift which was introduced in 2008. The 2 L Duratec petrol engine is a good general purpose engine with a good balance of power and economy. If you want something more economical consider a 1.6 L petrol. It might feel a bit gutless if the car is fully loaded. In my opinion the 1.8 L is pointless - it's quite thirsty for not much performance.

Titanium trim usually comes with "luxury" features such as cruise control, and sometimes heated leather seats.

Zetec trim is the "sports" package, with stiffer suspension iirc, and a rear diffuser which does absolutely nothing.

I personally prefer the mk2 facelift Focus 2 L petrol engine in Titanium flavour. I don't think you budget is high enough for this. There are many facelift 1.6 L petrols in Zetec and Titanium flavours within your budget.

Huh?

Titanium of that age rarely came with the optional cruise control and even less so with heated leather seats so dont set your heart on any of these. Auto lights, Auto wipers, Climate and a nicer trim inside is about all it really gives as standard over the Zetec.

Zetec does NOT come with the Sports package as described above. This is the Zetec S he is referring to.

Get a merc or bmw - my nan drives a focus.

So does mine and I bought a Mondeo ;)

Don't rule it out, my 2007 Mondeo Titanium had both CC and Heated Seats.

You can't compare Mondeo and Focus equipment levels. The Mondeo is much better specced. Even climate wasn't standard on the Mk2.5 Focus Titanium. The Titanium spec really only has a nicer radio, auto lights and auto wipers over the Zetec. None of the trims were well specified as standard.

I wanted a 2.0 Focus Titanium with climate, cruise and xenons a couple of years ago. I gave up and bought a Mazda 3 Sport. High spec Focus is hard to find.

£4k is a bit tight for a decent Mk2.5. There were some interior improvements to later 2007 pre-facelift cars where they fitted the newer radios. You might be better seeking out one of these.

incorrect

Mk2.5 (facelift) Titanium is the highest spec, doesn't come with leather seats, cruise as standard nor do the zetecs, they are optional extras
the Zetec has a sportier suspension as standard, but the titanium with the Sports pack upgrade includes 18" wheels and sports suspension

the rear diffuser is only on the ZetecS and ST variants

Unfortunately the budget is £4000, not a penny more, What i have found is no matter what your budget is there is always something that you would like for slightly more than you have

I have been looking and i keep getting drawn back to this one

Is there anything i should be looking out for, i have never had a diesel but reading about the DPF filter problems is quickly putting me off. How do i know if this car even has a DPF fitted ? I read somewhere that they had to be fitted from 2009 but may have been fitted early in preparation. I have read about DMF problems - should i be worried ?
