just been running through my goty fallout 3 and just remembered how bad it was for crashing about 3-4 times an hour where the screen would just freeze and i would have to ctrl, alt, del to desktop and end task. thousands of people were riddled with this problem.

Do you think they will address this with Vegas or are you waiting to see what the user verdicts are. Tbh it's the only thing stopping me pre-ordering on pc ATM and thinking of just getting a ps3 of 360 copy to mess around on until i hear the PC verdicts..

Your thoughts and input are welcome :)

Had the exact same problem with Fallout 3 on two different PCs and it really put me off the game. Ended up buying it on the PS3 but still havent got around to playing it through.

Im very skeptical about NV fixing the (obvious) issue too, sadly. Unless it's confirmed fixed I'll wait and pick it up on the cheap for a console in 6 months or so, which is a shame.

Kinda how i feel just hoping they haven't just built this game straight over the old engine without tweaking the obvious flaws.

I've tried everything to stop mine crashing and nothing works xp,win 7,5770,5850,1 core 2,3,4, 1 stick of ram ,different HDD and nothing

It really is the only thing that dissapoints me about the pc version

it's came to a point where i quicksave literally every 5 minutes :(

PC. I had one crash in Fallout 3 which was fully rectified by doing something (delete, rename or update) with a DLL file in the system32 folder, otherwise it ran flawlessly.

PC version for mods, graphics, mouse+kb, price. Hard to think of any pros for the console version (unless you are indeed unlucky and your Fallout 3 keeps crashing for no reason).

I consider myself lucky as someone that had FO3 run smoothly on my PC, give or take. Don't think it crashed once, if it did then only once or twice, nothing major. I shall be buying this for the PC, have no console atm. :D

PC retail DVD-Rom all the way :D

Most of the crashing issues on Fallout 3 were related to ATI drivers. Buy an Nvidia gfx card & you can play for hours on end with no crashing whatsoever (provided you have adjusted your settings to match your hardware as in apply commonsense & do not try & use max gfx if your card is not a high end model with plenty of Vram).

Longest I played it on my GTX260-216 was about 5 hours straight with no crashing or slowdowns whatsoever ;)

PC DVD retail +1

Have never been able to get my save games working from when I changed rig (but I had played it to death for over a year by then). Other than that no issues at all with running the game.

Why would anyone get it on anything but PC? Consoles may have been more stable but when you got the inevitable gamebreaking bugs that the dev console could fix in a flash the PS3 and Xbox360 were left helpless. Not to mention its still an FPS in part and will get a load of mods.

Fallout 3 never crashed when I used my 8800gt. It doesn't work well with my 5850's though. No crashing, but there's something weird going on with the HDR.

Hopefully NV will be more stable. It's not being developed by Bethesda this time, but it's still on the same engine.

Yes, Oblivion and Fallout 3 on the PC are unstable, I have 2 programs that directly cause them both to crash for no apparent reason whatsoever. However 3rd party mods are half the game when it comes to Bethesda. :p Buying their RPGs on anything except a PC is wrong.
