Just curious what others thoughts are

I got 1440p 240hz but

Single player
Action I’m happy with around 100fps
adventure 100/60fps depending if it’s running RT /slow paced game

Racing - high as possible
Simulation 100

multiplayer
Try to get constant 144 even if that means medium/low

Do people cap their FPS to minimise the impact of the 10% + 1% lows?

For example, if the game is averaging 100 fps but dropping to 80 fps every so often (infrequently) during regular gameplay do people find it less offensive to cap it at lower than 100 fps?
so im on 240hz but globally cap fps to 144,
1 for more consistent frame times
2 as most games i can close to 144
3 lower temperatures i like a quiet system
4 single player gets 60-100fps cap

then if i need to drop it lower, then i do it in game

makes more much more quiet pc

you still get the benefit of the fast refresh at a lower framerate as those frames are hitting the screen slighty quicker 144hz at 60fps

TBH, I can't even hear my 4070 at 100+ fps and the hottest I've seen it is 58C so far, usually stays lower than that so I happily let it run all out and aim for anything between 80-100fps as I can't feel the benefit over 60 above that and the card is too weak anyways.
I think it depends on the user

To me 800rpm fans even noctua are “loud” were as some find 1500rpm quiet

My 3090 left to it’s on its own clocks at 1950mhz @ 1.090v pushing 200fps in lot of games at 1440p at 75c with 2500rpm fans

I’ve undervoltes it to 1800mhz at 800mw now runs at 65c and get maybe 15fps less at 1200rpm

But if I lock it to 90fps it sits at 60c with 900rpm
