What from my current build can be redeemed?

Appreciate all the feedback guys, I’m now thinking 3600 with B450, bios concerns aside. Will I definitely need to update the bios on a B450 irrespective of what I get in the post? If it needs updating, is it a pretty simple process?

yes

is it a pretty simple process?
depends on which brand you get.
msi has it's cpu-less bios upgrades on most of its mobos. also their b450 range has the best vrms of all the brands so comes in recommended by yours truely.
gigabyte has a uk rma centre and they'll do the upgrade for free if you send it in.
asus/asrock not so sure

np.

just fyi, because it doesn't look like it's specifically mentioned: the usb pen drive needs to be formatted to fat32, not ntfs
also some reports that it needs to be less than 16gb

Hi all,

Just off the back of this, I've now settled on the below;

Mobo - B450 (Tomahawk)
CPU - Ryzen 5 3600
DDR - Team Group Delta RGB 32ghz

Will I get away with keeping my 1070 for awhile yet, or will this hold back the rest of the build?

Move up a platform, waste of money buying a 4790k now, you didn't mention a budget either, your 1070 should last you a bit longer at 1440p. Maybe something like this? Shouldn't be too budget intrusive; My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £729.47 (includes shipping: £10.50)

Sorry all, wasn't very clear! Looking at 16gb of ram. I've also got a Crucial MX500 SSD that I picked up at the end of last year, would that be any good in a new build?

My basket ready to order next week as it stands. Please critique or offer any suggestions/alternatives.
