What game in history have you played the most?

Got to be championship/football manager series. Been playing them probably half my life. Lol. I dread to think how many weeks or months I've ploughed into that over my life time. I've lost lots of time to civ as well. Then I suppose various footy games and Gran turismo.

UT99 / Quake 3 / Rainbow 6 (Rouge Spear / Raven Shield) and Soldier of Fortune 2, must have 1000's of hours between these games.

More recently: 489 hours in Ark, 432 hours in Rust and 135 hours in FSX with Fly Inside.

DC Universe Online. I have definitely clocked well over 3000 hours on that game. Fair amount of sleepless nights when that game came out 6 years ago! Still play it now, just not as much. It's all about Titanfall 2 now! :D

Like most, WoW dominated my playtime. Too depressing to check the exact amount! :o
Comfortably in second has gotta be Day of Defeat 1.3
Then BF2/Championship Manager

It'll most likely be either EVE Online or Europa Universalis IV.

I've been playing EVE over the most years, but I've done a lot more long binge sessions on EUIV... there's also the case that a chunk of my EVE time is spent being idle while all of my EUIV time is spent actually playing the game.

Spent a lot of time playing CS before steam. But on my steam account the most played game is FM 10 which is at 1175 hours (just shy of 7 weeks) but i get the new one every year. Going back to FM 10 (I've had them since championship manager 99) it totals to 7147 which is 42.5 weeks  FM15 is only on 300 hours as i played it on my laptop offline so it should really be near 1000 hours or more as i did 30 seasons as Roma

Thousands of hours playing BF 1942, BF2 and BF4.

Not sure why but it always feels like a guilty pleasure...

I suppose I ought to be doing something more productive in my sparetime... ;)

Hard to say but I would guess somewhere in the region of 8000-10000 hours of Quakeworld. That was approximated based on me having a very active period of 7 years averaging probably 20hrs a week and then another couple thousand hours spread over other years.

Quite a lot of time (approx 1 year in realtime) but mostly very enjoyable. If I'd had more free time and a better internet connection I would have played more.

Quite surprised to see how many hours some people are clocking up on SP games like Skyrim, I know you can probably sink a good few hundred hours into deep RPGs but anything over 500hrs is quite extreme (not in a bad way, just unexpected).

I think Quake 2 I probably sunk the most hours into of anything - I got quite into the modding side of it as well* as multiplayer (I easily surpassed 4000 hours of just duelling on The Edge maps).

* I have my own pet project that combines persistent RPG elements with the game (kind of collision of left 4 dead, guildwars and quake) and an extensive world in the style of the original game.

It would also have to be Quake 2 for me. Like Rroff I spent endless hours dueling on the Edge map and when I finally moved from 56k modem to ISDN it gave me a massive advantage over the modem players. :D

Quake 2/3 , LAN parties at my mates computer shop. I used to lug my rig and my massive IIyama 19" CRT monitor every weekend lol

Skyrim I think is a bit of an exception as you can significantly mod it to play through again and there are mods that add significant additional content/entirely new game stories. If you really take your time there is a lot of side content and additional layers of content to the game as well.

EDIT: Had quite a lot of fun when I'd played long enough that I basically had a Dremora army of followers and the game modded with a "drenched" look that fitted the atmosphere I was going for, completely overpowered setup but so fun.
